Monday night football has decided to change the MNF intro that has had Hank's Rowdy Friend song since 1989 and replaced it with a Little Richard song from 1958. You would think it had something to do with Riots taking place etc. with the Rowdy part. But no. it is being replaced with "Rip it up". You can't make this up. That ought to bring in the fans. A song from 1958.

Should have been replaced years ago...but who cares really. The MNF broadcast has been trash for years now. The announcers stink and the matchups have been even worse the last few years. It used to be a thing when it was the only weekly night game, but with the Thursday and Sunday night broadcasts in recent years, it became about irrelevant to anyone other than a fantasy football junkie.

Maybe. Things lapse into public domain sometime. The network might own the rights already.

I like the Hank Jr song the best---but this isnt a big deal. We've had Carrie Underwood/Joan Jett and Faith Hill all take a crack at the Sunday Night football into song. Nothing all that new here.

That said--why is comparing Obama to Hitler "controversial" when people on social media and major network media talking heads and anchors regularly compare Trump to Hitler (or worse)?

Back in those days the artists owned nothing. The labels owned it and the labels are all gone. This is fo da free. Little Richard made more money later in life for performancees than he ever did off his music.

I've decided to not watch any sport that supports the BLM/Antifa agenda this year. That includes my own college team.. Forgot I had a subscription for espn+ will be canceling that also when I get home.

Shhh, the woke and socially conscious among us will freak out. It's beyond their capacity to consider that, right or wrong, things used to be different. Many a child grew up hearing language like that and thought nothing of it using it themselves.

My mom was as much a southern woman as any and she hated the n word, she didn't tolerate it much. But the kids I ran with and their parents and my cousins and aunts and uncles and on and on used it freely. I had no real idea of nor ever considered the impact that word could have and I didn't really use it maliciously. I now have no tolerance for it myself but in the work environment I'm now in I hear it used by blacks all day every day and I find myself bristling a little each time I hear it from them for some odd reason.

I used to have a plant full of Mexican employees at facility I managed in Huntington Beach, California. A good number of them had immigrated from Michoacán.
I used to kid them and tell them they were from Michigan. They got a kick out of that.
I had 9 facilities I was responsible for in 6 countries. That was the best plant in the division. A tremendous work ethic.
I still miss the tamales at Christmas.

My Dad was from the foothills of the Appalachians. He told me had never seen a black person until a black truck driver got stranded there in a flood. Dad came to Louisville in 1960. By 1964 he made Supervisor and was hiring the first blacks into his plant.
He used to say I don’t give a damn what color you are as long as you’ll work and do a good job.

I would have got a beating for using the N word.

Mark my words, the NFL and the media is playing with fire. Most people who have historically watched football are what I would call “middle America” (in quotations because this is in reference to a mindset not geography). You give these people more excuses to leave, they will.

If I were the XFL I would do everything I can to cater to this office to get them to switch over. It might not take much.

Speaking as a longtime fan of Hank Jr., I agree it’s time to get some new music after ~30 years.

But having said that, I wouldn’t watch even if I could personally select the soundtrack for each game. I’m just done with NFL. Don’t care anymore.
