Say what you want about the potential the Bearcats would have had if Yates had pulled in a few more recruits, but I watched his teams for five years in college. He had players that could have done a lot better if anyone on that staff knew how to coach.

Yeah- Yates (may he RIP) was a great Bearcat basketball player and from all indications a man who genuinely cared about his players and wanted to get them an education. But regardless of what mythical player we want to say that he "could have landed" had he continued to coach he just wasn't going to take UC to the promised land. This is confirmed by the fact that he did not coach anywhere after he was let go by UC.
