Although the Southern Conference teams are permitted to play OOC games, it doesn't appear from their website that Mercer is planning to do so. Although there may be others, so far I have only seen The Citadel scheduling games this Fall.

This page has a list of currently scheduled games for FCS schools playing this fall: http://www.fcs.football/cfb/story.asp?i=...m=&src=FCS
Mercer, Western Carolina and Chattanooga are all playing, all have less than the maximum four games scheduled that would allow them to play a SoCon schedule in the spring, and all have 9/12 as an open date. Gardner-Webb and Kennesaw State have not scheduled any games and are presumably not playing this fall.

What is the problem, UVA? Just pick one so the ACC can finalize the TV schedule already!

To be fair, it's Virginia. They probably forgot about football season.

As do Temple and Liberty if they are willing to schedule an FBS opponent. My guess is that member schools with open dates are opting for FCS opponents primarily as a cost saving measure.

I wonder if UNC will shop for an opponent for 9/26. Coastal Carolina is available.

After the whoopin' they laid on the Jayhawks, Mack may not want any part of them.

Pretty sure that had more to do with Kansas.

Yep! Unfortunately no agreements could be reached within budget.
https://247sports.com/college/north-caro...151775149/
"The Tar Heels reached out to more than a dozen schools with financial offers to play a non-conference game at Kenan Stadium on Sept. 26 without success, according to a team source. UNC offered as much as $600,000 in some cases, which matches what the program had originally agreed to pay FCS opponent James Madison this season. There remains optimism in finding a non-conference opponent to play on either Nov. 21 or Dec. 12."

RE: ACC open OOC dates
I'm not sure why UNC would pay somebody $600K to come to an empty Kenan Stadium. I can't imagine that Carolina would get more media money for playing that game than they will get from the conference if they don't play it. Is there a revenue source I just don't know about?

The point was that they couldn't find anybody for 600K or less that would come, and with no revenue sources we weren't going to pay any more.
