If we do a home and home with someone then it likely means we will still be hosting a home game with no fans...
I think he is more worried about the financial viability of the program rather than one more game. UC is not negotiating from a position of strength. They appear that they need another game. UC is good enough to scare good teams and not in a good position to pay for a cupcake.

I think AAC should have done all AAC +1 game.

Do we know if ESPN is prorating the TV contract?

Let's please not compare UC to a school with the operational ability of an Armed Services Branch and the Federal Budget behind it. As many have said, we don't have the money for a buy game, and neither do any other schools...plus almost every H&H option likely would've put us as the home team this season where we would see absolutely no benefit to it financially.

Cunningham was on WLW at 6pm. He did not close the door on something opening up on 9/26. He said there are still a lot of moving pieces.

How many "moving pieces" can there be at this point? I mean, I guess that the B10 ***could*** suddenly reverse course and allow Nebraska (and OSU) to play a limited, OOC season...but at this point that seems ever more unlikely with every passing day; there just is too much for those teams to do and not much time left to do it in.

The only other "moving piece" is the cancellation of the entire season. Is that what Cunningham is banking on at this point? It sort of feels like he was bargaining on the whole season collapsing, so the "empty" slots wouldn't be "a thing." Why go to a whole lot of trouble to scramble and try to fill some dates that would get cancelled anyway? If that's his gambit, then the clock is ticking.

Wait, he already made the statement that it was unlikely UC would add a second OOC game. Now he says there are moving parts and the door is not closed? The MAC cancelled their football season on August 8th. It's now August 24th. It seems that any criticism is fair. I don't get the impression that our AD is real gung ho about things.

Yeah his comments this evening did not totally dismiss a possibility of it happening. Perhaps something happened between this morning and 6pm tonight. DK.... I guess we'll know in 4 weeks.

FWIW, BYU board claimed their AD said last 2 games scheduled likely to come from AAC. Gave no indication who.

Based on our AD already stating that no games will be played prior to the Sept 19th Austin Pee game and the dates BYU still has open would make it unlikely for a scheduling match...

Quote:BYU currently has seven games with up to five dates remaining to fill a full 12-game schedule.

So the dates that BYU has openings currently are September 12th, October 24th, October 31st, November 7th, November 14th, and November 28th. Not bad all things considered after losing 10 of its original 12 games.

BYU Remaining Game Dates

Austin Peay is on ESPN!

No, not the Bearcat game on Sep 19.
Austin Peay vs Central Arkansas is on ESPN Aug 29 at 9 pm!
As far as I know, there is no Bearcat TV schedule for 2020 and there is
no kickoff time for Bearcats/Governors. Its on Cunninghams to-do list.

From collegefootballnews.com about the Governors:

"There might be a whole lot of big things going on with the program, but the amazing run defense from last season should still be a killer.

It anchors around the explosive 5-9, 285-pound Josephus Smith on the inside – coming off a 50-tackle, 7.5-sack, 18.5 tackle-for-loss season – and has most of the other main men around him. The Governors allowed just 104 rushing yards per game and were amazing at forcing turnovers."

Both UCA and the Bearcats are big games for the Govs because
both games are the only ones scheduled for APSU's 2020 season.

And you think the Bearcats have problems with 2020 scheduling.
There is a real lack of decent football games anywhere until Sep 26. The only early game I want to watch is SMU at TCU Sep 12.

This is solely because the OVC, Austin Peay's conference, canceled their season but allowed their teams to play any out of conference games they had scheduled to collect their payday.. 390k in Austin Peay's case.

RE: AAC Football Scheduling
Pitt has a new OOC game, Austin Peay Sep 12.

Cardiachill.com has insight on their decision:

https://www.cardiachill.com/2020/8/25/21...ather-lyke

"Pitt was faced with dwindling options before the addition, and it was unclear even hours before Lyke’s announcement which team Narduzzi and his staff would settle on, as the coach said Pitt was “dancing around with a few folks right now” in a Tuesday media session. Temple and Cincinnati were both available on Pitt’s desired date of Sept. 12, and both are much closer than Austin Peay, which is located in Clarksburg, Tennessee. But both would have been far more challenging for a team already saddled with a difficult ACC schedule."

Go Governors. I hope that the Pitt series 2023 at Pitt and the 2024 at home is still on. Bearcats have won four of the last five Pitt games.
The last game Sep 6, 2012, Munchie had a good game and Walter Stewart had 2 sacks and a forced fumble. Bearcats had six sacks and led 34-3 in the fourth quarter. It was Coach Butch's first game of his last year at Clifton. Paul Christ lost his second game of his first year at Pitt.
The week before, Pitt lost to Youngstown State! Go Penguins.

Go Governors.

In other words they saw us humiliate BC and wanted no part of a similar beatdown.

What a bunch of cowards. I guess they realize that even with all of the advantages and resources they have over us, we're still the superior football program.

Yep, 9/26 at Nippert Stadium. I guess the AD knew something was in the works when he softened the position about the possibility of playing another game.

This is great news! We need the game or risk playing teams that have had two more games(opportunities) to iron things out.
