Well TDS clearly is. Its Alzheimer's level impairment.

What baffles me is several very intelligent people I know (engineers) are totally clueless about politics and are loyal democrats. When you try to talk with them and ask why they support the left, it is like trying to talk with a 2 year old. Facts don't matter, only emotions.

I have several siblings that are engineers that are the same way. Smart but dumb.

If you want to distill it to the simplest elements, Democrats decide things by emotion and Republicans decide things by thinking.

If you are an engineer, chances are you either work directly for a manufacturing company or are indirectly affected by the industry. I suppose you could have some engineers that equate democrat with private sector unions, and that would equal democrats are supporters of American manufacturing. But to still believe that, you would have to have not paid attention to what has been going on with the manufacturing sector ever since NAFTA was first approved in the early 90s.

Unless these engineers you speak of are computer engineers and possibly work in programming - which really means they are software developers - I can't imagine any engineers who have the words mechanical, materials, chemical, electrical and civil supporting democrat policies even with the most basic awareness of what is going on around them. I do not know of a single engineer who leans left. Granted, I only know people who are working in civil, electrical, materials and mechanical disciplines. My daughter is studying to be a chemical engineer and at worst she is a centrist politically and will likely drift right as she starts co-op.
Don't forget the number of engineers that feed on the government teat.

There's the DOD contractors, all of aviation, all of the nuclear industry, TVA, Army Corps of Engineers, highway guys, etc... That's a lot of people protecting their lunch.

I live close to Oak Ridge National Labs. They have more engineers than I have blades of grass in my yard.

Engineers and Accountants tend to be logical types and Democrats are few and far between. On the other hand, the "caring" professions, like Social Workers and Nurses, tend to be heavily Democrat.

Software and programmers would seem to be Republican types, but that does not seem to be the case anymore.

You're just piling evidence on.

There are people who refuse medical care and instead choose to 'pray' their ills away. As ridiculous as you may find this, it is (in 99.9% of cases) absolutely their right and they aren't asking or requiring you to do a damn thing except keep your opinions to yourself. On the other side, the left similarly chooses to believe what is often pseudo, if not complete BS science... but they're not happy being allowed to make their own choices, instead they insist that these choices be forced upon everyone.... If you want to recycle your bodily waste into food, be my guest. I've seen the science and while I've only given it a cursory review out of 'wtf' curiosity... I have no reason thus far to dispute it. If you want to pass laws requiring that we all do so in order to 'save the planet' from climate change, I'm going to ask you to 'show your work' not only on climate change in the first place, but on 'this law' having a direct and meaningful impact on the outcome....and to 'defend it from reasonable scrutiny'. If you remotely decline to do either, you're going to be dismissed.

It's that simple.

Maybe they have no patience for your simplicity?

A classic example of the condescending tone of the left.

Have any of you tried to have a reasonable conversation with a liberal? Well, that’s impossible as most know.

RE: Are Democrats deliberately delusional?
Both sides have their delusions. A lot of it's the internet creating echo chambers and encouraging narcissism to the point that meaningful discussion can't be had. The death of the Fairness Doctrine and the creation of party propaganda organs in broadcasting certainly hasn't helped things, either.

As much as we laugh at the Rwandan civil war for being caused by the radio, the same exact thing is happening to us. The burn is just a little slower and the methods more sophisticated.

I could drive it to the bible.....however, I always drive it back the printing press and WRH that developed modern brainwashing...one could also toss Tesla into the fray from the design side of the equation (not musk)

controlling agenda within the media is 'tried and true' for millenia....same as o'day. ..
