Yes, it seems that the vast majority of people will believe anything the media tells them, it's just a matter of what channel they are watching. They will read anything you put on the telepromptor.

They'll even defend and vote for a reality TV personality because they believe, in spite of ample evidence, that 1) he has their best interests at heart, and 2) that he's a successful businessman.

I think it had more to do with how rampant racism is in this country. Half the country was tired of Obama and Trump, like him or not is definitely the anti-Obama.

Like everything it is somewhere in the middle. Not as bad as the Democrats make it out to be, but more dangerous than Fox news and the Republicans claim it to be.

Bingo. But what bugs me is that no one is asking anyone to buy anything, go to some creepy COVID camp, or whatever. They are basically just saying wash your hands and wear a mask. Don’t have to buy one, you can make one it you want. And people are losing their f****ing minds over it.

Most of the whiny agitators are the pro-maskers, with their non-stop virtue signaling. The anti-maskers (for the most part) just want to live their lives and be left alone.

Not wearing a mask is virtue signaling too. If you truly want to be left alone you wear a mask and live your life and no one will bother you. There are babies on both sides of the debate. I was at the post office on Saturday and some lady wouldn't respect the 6 feet distance rule, was coughing like crazy, lowered her mask below her nose. An old man was in line just in front of her (he was six feet behind me) and I wanted to say something, but I also want to be left alone and since I wasn't the one directly affected by her rudeness I did leave it alone as I didn't want a scene. Point is, most mask wearers want to be left alone and want to get back to normalcy as quickly as possible. The anti-mask people have staged plenty of protests and been pretty belligerent. Being a jerk is not directly linked to one opinion or the other.

I didn't name call. That wasn't related to mask wearing, it was a generalization. Being a jerk is truly a universal issue not limited to left or right and I stand by that. I'm not telling anyone what to do either. I'm simply stating that if you want people to leave you alone, you try to blend in. I'm a libertarian. At the same time I like to avoid confrontation that's why I won't tell anyone to wear a mask or put it on properly, but I am of the opinion that if you want to be left alone then it's pretty obvious that you should wear a mask as that is how most people will leave you alone. My 2 cents.

BTW, most anti-maskers are the same people who were relentlessly against those that kneeled for the national anthem. Was that not virtue signaling? Shouldn't people leave them alone too? I have never knelt for the anthem but have no issue with anyone choosing to do so. Not wearing a mask around me does make me extremely uncomfortable though, because there is a nasty virus going around and I don't want to catch it. Slightly different scenarios. As long as people don't get close to me I really don't care if they wear a mask or not. I don't wear a mask when I walk my dog because I purposely distance myself whenever I see anyone around so the mask is really unnecessary at that point.

I agree that we live in an in your face culture as opposed to a more reserved culture. I am by nature more reserved because it is how I was brought up and it is uncommon nowadays. However, it doesn't negate what I said. People want to be able to say and do whatever they want and want to be embraced for it. That's not how it works. You can either be very neutral and not upset very many or you can say and do whatever you want and some will support you and some will vilify you for it. Case in point this thread. If I had headed my own advice I wouldn't have chimed in and you wouldn't be calling me ridiculous.
