I guess I'm a little triggered by all the knuckleheads that won't cooperate. I just want to get back to normalcy as quickly as possible and the anti-vaxxers anti-mask people aren't helping but think they know more than doctors and everyone else.

Agree that the US has become a "laughing stock" to some extend around the world... Disagree that it is due to the behavior of the citizens of this country... the world knows what the truth is, the politicians "pissing" at each other to the extend that they do is why the US is a "laughing stock"... guess it provides comedy relief to the rest of the world.

People do ignore social distancing, but you'd be surprised of how evenly the blame is distributed through out all segments of society.

My point made in a earlier post stands, "Surgical grade masks" are the only reliable facial protection at about 93-97% defectiveness depending on whos data you chose to believe.

It's not fool proof, you also have to have social distancing which is rather difficult for doctors in hospitals administering treatment to COVID-19 patients. Also, the mask does not protect you from others, it protects others from you spreading your germs. Initially I laughed at all the old people going to the grocery store wearing masks thinking it made them safer from catching the virus. It didn't make them safer, they made others around them safer and that is what we need. If everyone wears them, we will all be safer from each other's germs. It's not 100%, but it definitely makes us safer. If not, why do we have military, police and fire departments? There are still plenty of fires and there is plenty of crime, aggressions and terrorism. I'm all for police, fire, and military but they are not a magic bullet many people think they are. See how that works?

Look---Im not arguing against masks. Im simply pointing out that masks and social distancing isnt going to stop the virus. All it can do is slow the exponential spread of the virus enough to flatten the curve so we dont overwhelm our heathcare system (which is a worthy goal). But thats about all the mitigation methods can do. The virus is here and will be part of our lives until we have a cure or a vaccine. Im frankly pretty sure that bars and large entertainment events (sports, concerts, plays, etc) are effectively dead as we used to know them until one of several things happens---

1) We get herd immunity and we are sure that herd immunity is long lasting

2) We get a vaccine that people are willing to actually take

3) We get a treatment that is widely available and highly effective at clearing the disease.

First off How bout you just take a step back yourself. I personally wear a mask inside of public buildings, and rarely have trouble keeping a bit of a distance. If i stop I find 90% of the people will try to keep a few feet away while going by. If I decide to get in their face and make a scene, yes I will have problems. Here i central Fla I have noticed more people wearing mask the last couple of weeks. Used to be a 50 50 mix, now it is more like 70-30. Are there times when people get closer? Yes it is usually when someone passes someone else in an isle. and it is usually done quietly and pretty quickly. If you bought a firearm to bring to stores over mask rules, I hope I never am in a store with you, as u are truly too unhindged to own a gun.

The primary reason a surgeon wears a mask and shield is splash protection. Microdroplets can carry pathogens, yes... but when you go to the beach or store you are not doing surgery. Its beneficial to wear one in a crowd perhaps, but mandating one all the time everywhere is silly from a medical perspective. As with everything else in life... it was made political... which is a shame.

I'm starting to get really tired of people saying that COVID is a political hoax. I'm a republican, but am not dumb enough to think that this is all a plot by the democrats to see if we'll all wear masks just for kicks to see if they can control everyone.

There is a reason why I can't go visit 100 other countries this year. It's because a bunch of snowflakes bi***ed about their rights, the president started acting like the mayor from Jaws, and we ended up with the diet coke of pandemic responses compared to the rest of the planet, most of which are getting back to normal by now.

The fact that people who were fine with their phones being tapped with 4k deaths over 20 years are now whining about the government over-reach about cloth masks with 140k deaths in 6 months is the most ridiculous thing to me.
