Big 12 Reports a $37.7 Million Distribution to Schools
This represents a $1.1 decrease from last year due to the loss of basketball revenue this year. Schools had anticipated about $40 million until the tournament was cancelled. This does not include the third tier TV rights that each school owns.

That's actually not too bad.
The impact of the NCAA Tournament being canceled might be a bit more delayed since the credits are paid to conferences over a period of years (sort of like a rolling average) as opposed to all at once. By the same token, though, that also cushions the blow a little bit of this year's impact.

Agreed, I mean, I know these admins spend every anticipated penny so it's possible that for some schools getting $3 million less will hurt and necessitate a cut or two, but by and large, that's far from a catastrophic reduction, shouldn't have much impact at all.

The ACC apparently will distribute about $1M less per team too.

Mark,
I could be wrong, but what I understood is that the ACC was going to get $1 million less than what they anticipated this season, not $1 million less than last season. But again, I could be wrong.

Yes that is correct...the ACCN has actually been a big success.

Don't forget Third Tier rights. The University of Oklahoma's Sooner Sports Network is carried by FOX Regionals and pays OU $7.5 million per year. Then there is the monster, Longhorn Network $15M/year. And the OU/Texas game in Dallas pays each school $7M, because of financial incentives provided by the city of Dallas.
I am deeply interested in how ESPN+ plays out for the eight B12 schools. Potentially, every conference member can have all their sports games telecast (streamed) which is not possible with a conference network. My big hope is the games are archived so I can watch reruns in the off season.

ESPN+ could potentially help any conference that doesn't have a conference network. Take the AAC for example. It could close the gap even more on the ACC and the Pac12 with more ESPN+ coverage.

Are you sure about that $7M that the City of Dallas pays each school to play the OU/Texas game in Dallas. It was my understanding that the City paid each school $3M, but that may have changed.

I have actually wondered about that and this is all I found from Google.
Schenkel led negotiations for the the city and the State Fair of Texas, settling on a fee of $500,000 in direct payments to each school for playing at the Cotton Bowl. They also get a split of the ticket sales.

RE: Big 12 Reports a $37.7 Million Distribution to Schools
The city of Dallas does not provide $7M financial incentives. The payout from all sources is $7M which includes the Dallas financial incentives. That is the last figure I have seen published in the Daily Oklahoman. Ticket prices are outrageous for this game. Many OU fans go to Dallas Thursday/Friday night and make a big week end event out of the game.
Texas prefers a home and home setup as the Longhorns feel this game in Dallas gives the Sooners too much of a presence in the state of Texas and substantially boosts their Texas recruiting. Sooner Nation wholeheartedly agrees.
Texas U was trying to get to a home and home schedule but Dallas Business people and Texas state Legislaters from the Dallas area opposed moving the game out of Dallas because of the bucks made by Dallas business. With this political pressure and throw in the Dallas City financial incentives, Texas U relented. All this reported in the Daily Oklahoman. The OU Athletic Dept and the Daily Oklahoman are joined at the hip. The OU Athletic Dept leaks like a sieve to Daily Oklahoman (As an aside, the Daily OKlahoman reported that Texas U is adamantly opposed to any expansion what so ever but I don't want to kill the fun many posters have on this board thinking their school will soon be in B12).
Dallas also made improvements to the old Cotton Bowl to help hold the OU/Texas game.
About money, think about it this way. If it was a home and home series, the home school would get somewhere around $7M every other year. By playing in Dallas, both OU and Texas get $7M each year. As if OU and Texas are concerned about money?! Their goals are beyond money.
Hats of to both ACC and B12. Both conferences were perceived as failures from a financial standpoint but both conferences have done just fine. Whereas PAC perceived itself as on a par with BiG and SEC has been surpassed I believe financially by both B12 and ACC.
Some time has passed since the Daily Oklahoman $7M article....my guess is the game pays out more, perhaps substantially more in recent years.

Yeah Texas hates the game in Dallas because of losing it's recruiting presence..
