That is two consecutive years where about half of the roster turned over. I wonder how much of it is because of the coaching change, Covid-19 or this is just how it will be going forward thanks to the portal. I guess time will tell.

I believe Wooden is the last of the Rowe recruits left on the roster so this is now fully Byington’s team. He seems to have found his type of player. I really enjoyed the style of play last year. Looking forward to seeing how he grows the program this coming season.

COVID, extra year of eligibility, transfer without sitting out, several factors go into what will be the norm going forward. Basketball has been like that for years, between transferring in high school/prep/post-grad, then NCAA/JUCO and all around, some of these kids are in like 5 programs in 5 season and are still only halfway through college. Also, going to post what I found somewhere else:

Scarier they were right). If my quick roster check is accurate that would be Keith Chesley who was just in the position for one year.

Like I said, don't know the reason he left and really don't think it's a big deal but figured I would put the info in this thread for an fyi....

Interesting...word I’m hearing is he wants to stay home and play one year. If he wants to come to JMU, we will find a roster spot for him. He’s an immediate starter for us.
