MSNBC: Americans have a "freedom obsession"
MSNBC contributor Anand Giridharadas declared on Wednesday that Americans have a “freedom obsession” when speaking about the coronavirus pandemic during an appearance on “Morning Joe.”

“There’s a primordial American tradition going back to the founders of being freedom-obsessed, even though we’re a country founded on slavery and genocide,” Giridharadas continued. “Being freedom-obsessed to the point where we’re always so afraid of the government coming for us that we’re blind to other types of threats, whether it’s a virus, whether it’s bank malfeasance, climate change, what have you.”

RE: MSNBC: Americans have a "freedom obsession"
Idiot A$$. Yeah that's what our country was founded on. Genocide this Slavery that... like the USA sucks and were the only ones who ever did this even though almost every other country/culture/regime in history before 1900s had these issue as well. Hell there a good amount of countries past 1900 that have had these issue and some that still do to this day.

Anyways, we are pass those things and Freedom/Liberty was the ultimate quality our country was founded on and YES we should take pride in being founded on those qualities as well as keeping them in practice today.

Apparently never listened to...

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’ER THE LAND OF THE FREEEEEEE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE?

What a f-kin tool...... FUK YOU!

Why is common sense so f-kin hard to come by. Can 100% of the people work completely safely - no, but more than 50% of the people can. Keep your hand clean, keep your distance, don't touch your face, don't cough on people - take extra precautions with the more at risk population (elderly). WTF is so hard about all of that?

Some people are willing to give up their freedom for a life supplied by the Government.

That, ladies and gents, is essence of the Democrat party and liberals these days. 03-puke

For once the fake news got it right. Americans do tend to be freedom obsessed. It’s a trait that explains everything from our origins as a nation to our success. It’s funny how the media only remembers that obsession when it’s defending the first amendment.

he's a troll that should be kicked out of the country.

Founded on slavery? Seriously?

I think he's talking about the Democratic Party.

Genocide? Really?

Tribes were warring with and killing each other before the settlers came along.

Freedom obsessed is right....

'founded on slavery and genocide' is a false equivalency... because freedom has expanded to include those persons...

Surely he's not suggesting that we should have remained 'less free' as we were? Of course not.

Slavery and genocide were mostly functions of our heritage.... we certainly didn't start those practices of killing those who occupy territory that we want or enslaving people. That dates back centuries before our founding... nd often includes those we enslaved and killed.

I'd say liberals like this guy are 'slavery and genocide' obsessed...

Which does HE want to be more important?

It brings attention, just as this. He probably believes it but also doesn't care that most people think he's an idiot as long as he gets his 15 minutes or whatever.
