If true let the celebration begin. Hatch Chili for everyone.
Guess they showed us hillbillies. Yea Haw.

Meh it’s probably better for everyone. There are pros and cons for each program. The objective facts about NET and conference strength clearly favor us but they have a lot going for them too. The SoCon is a gauntlet, the WAC is a cakewalk. Can’t blame him for keeping the guaranteed tournament appearances which will surely launch him to a P6 job soon.

And it's chile, not chili or chilie...

Next step, Did he get a raise and how much?
I mean NMSU won, We interviewed ( I am assuming we did)
their coach, didn't offer him the job,
just interviewed him. So
A) He knows ETSU is the better job and that
is why he interviewed
B) He saw a way to get more $$$. either way we can stop
talking about him.

And we have the answer.

NMSU Director of Athletics Mario Moccia tells KTSM 9 Sports he spoke with Jans on Wednesday and there is an agreement in place to increase his retention bonus.

Their board is saying his wife was talking about wanting to buy a bigger house, Smart man figured out how to pay for it.

It honestly felt like this was the plan the entire time. He probably reached out to us first. If Aggie fans want to be upset they should turn the frustration to Jans because he just played them for more cash. Don’t take it personally, we’ve been there.

Entertaining bunch of fans, very easy to bait. Also very bipolar.
We are so much better than they are, we have history, we
have it all. Why worry?
next post.
We can't compete with them, we can't match what they are
willing to pay..
rinse and repeat

It's going to be Shay per Jon Rothstein. Will be interesting to see who will be on his staff.

That Jans guy might make a good assistant, if he can handle his branch water.

Seriously though, Jans may have not been selected (or saw that he was not going to be selected) and withdrew his name. Happens all the time. Doesn't mean he was no longer interested in the job. We may never know.

Happy for Shay. He deserves it. I think we will keep all of our players and recruits too.

Congrats to future Socon coach of the year Jason Shay on the promotion! Now go out and keep the band together!

Anyone know how old Shay is?

Shay played basketball at Iowa, graduating in 1995. Mid 40's?

RE: New Head Coaching Search/Hire Thread
i will support Coach Shay and want the program to continue. I guess there is no way to find out who else was seriously interested. I just want the team to win beyond next year. I have seen assistants promoted and win the first year and then proceed to demolish the program. Please let this not be another LeForce. Go Bucs!

Or you have seen assistants come in and do a better job than their predecessors. Bob Richey at Furman and Brad Stevens at Butler are two examples of this.
