Banned from post season play for the 2019-2020 season is my prediction.
I see what you did there.

They should hammer Pitino too. Would make it really entertaining.
While they are at it they need to hit Iona for hiring Pitino a few months. They knew the guy was dirty and things were looming. Sadly, they probably will and low major Iona will be the one hit the hardest in all of this.

RE: Louisville
Quote:In a joint statement from Louisville president Dr. Neeli Bendapudi and Tyra, the university said it was reviewing the notice of allegations and would begin formulating a response to the charges.
"It is important to remember that these are allegations -- not facts -- and the University will diligently prepare a full and comprehensive response and, absent an unforeseen development, submit it within the prescribed ninety-day period," the Louisville statement said. "For those allegations that are proven to be factual, the University will take responsibility, as accountability is one of our core Cardinal Principles.
"However, we will not hesitate to push back where the evidence does not support the NCAA's interpretations or allegations of charges. U of L has a right and a responsibility to stand up for itself when faced with unfair or unfounded charges and will always act in the best interests of the institution. Our legal team has begun the process of reviewing the Notice and will prepare a thorough response on behalf of the University."

RE: Louisville
Quote:Soon after meeting with the media, Tyra got on a Zoom call with Mack to talk to the players and family members. The point of the meeting was to just give them an update on the timeline of the process. Tyra also said he doesn't think any player will miss a chance to participate in March Madness.
"It's hard for me to give somebody a 100% guarantee, I'm not sure I'd put my blood on it, but I think it's highly unlikely that we would miss our ability to play in that tournament next season," Tyra said.
In the case that Louisville does receive a postseason ban, or even a reduction of scholarships below 11, Mack's time at Louisville won't be cut short.
As part of his contract, Mack will receive a one-year extension for every year Louisville has those designated penalties.
That's Tyra's way of making sure his coach, who has a 44-21 record in two years and would've made his second straight NCAA Tournament appearance before the COVID-19 pandemic, feels safe in his job.
"We were clear to Chris during the recruitment process that should we have allegations that it would extend his time period so he knew there would be coverage and wouldn’t run out of time to achieve his goals and our goals at the same time," Tyra said.
It's Part of the Contract at UofL

LSU and Arizona have held their middle fingers up for over a year while letting Wade and Miller coach without reprimand. I generally don't favor the Ncaa imposing serious sanctions, but when schools like this blatantly make a mockery of the rules they should be held accountable.

Ban them from the 2020 March NCAA!

RE: Louisville
Louisville will always be in a good spot since they joined the ACC. I'm sure not too many supporters and alumni will dwell much on these infractions [and past] because the big pay checks keep coming their way along with the prestige of membership in a power conference. That said, they are the first program to have a national title vacated and they had 123 wins removed spanning over 4 seasons. IIRC they also had to return the NCAA tournament money received through conference revenue shares for those four seasons. Those aren't "smack the hand" penalites but nothing short of the "death penalty" would really impact them long term.

Per Pat Forde:
That is repeat violator territory in NCAA parlance. And, in theory, it could be Death Penalty stuff—shutting down the program for year or more, the way it did SMU football in the 1980s.
But the actual Notice of Allegations doesn’t seem like it has the juice to bring the ultimate penalty. Frankly, a single Level One allegation—and only a Level Two aimed at Pitino—is a bit lighter than expected. With aggravating factors, Louisville could still be hammered with up to a five-year postseason ban. If aggravating factors aren't considered, a ban (if applied) could be one or two years at most.

Death penalty wouldn't even hurt them...they are ACC, P5, flush with $$$. They could wait out the year and be back immediately after the ban. It's the P5 membership that buffers them against all this...and as a power school, they won't be shed into G5.
