This guy magically went from zero stars to three stars on July 10th. All since he made a commitment to a g5 school.
Help me here..l.has anyone played football in 6 months? What changed?
That just isn't true. I'm all for a spirited debate on the validity of stars, but get your facts right at least. Your own source shows he was ranked a .7899 back in July of 2019 and a .8073 this month. You really ":wingedeagle:" on a 2% increase in ranking?
OK - I don't know about the stars, but nationally rankings don't seem that overly impressive.
Over all rating # 2373
Over all RB Rating # 152
So let's assume the top assume the top 95 teams late 25 players that would be the top 2375 players.
For the over all rating let's assume the top 75 team take 2 running backs, that would be 150 players.
yes - 3 stars seems awesome, but over all national ratings seem about what you would expect for a JMU recruit.
Once again - when you get to the #2,372 ranking, how much difference is there between #1,800 or # 2,800? Coaching & fit really makes a lot of the difference. The results of the players the last four years have far exceeded the high school ratings......

Uh, hate to break it to you, but he had zero stars when he committed. I saw it on 247.
And then he went to 3 stars on July 10th.
I’m showing the link to reflect there was an update made on July 10th this year. I have zero clue what those numerical ratings represent.
But the “stars” changed for sure, that’s all I’m saying. And it’s because we all get caught up in them because that is what is publicized. Nobody says, this guy has a .8073 rating.
And every year jmu magically loses stars from its recruits for no real reason.

The 247 rating pushes to the 247 stars, this is widely published information, not sure how you don't know that. The rating was 0.0 as of earlier this year, so while you say he "had zero stars," the truth is he just did have a rating to push to an amount of stars. To simplify for you - If I haven't taken the test, I didn't get a 0. I just simply haven't gotten a grade. Then I take the test and get 80.73% of the questions right. I didn't go from a F to a C, I just got my test graded.
I'm not sure why his rating went to 0.0, from the previous .79 rating, but my guess is not enough scouts were grading him so the composite score couldn't be calculated. The grades are pushed quarterly so while you think he went from zero to 3 stars because he committed, it is far more likely that he wasn't graded by enough services to give him a rating number until after his commitment got his name out to the scouts and then their composite rating was updated in the July quarterly push that led to 3 stars. If you notice, all of ODU commits ratings were updated it July, including some that fell.

This is all correct. Duke Dawg there isn’t some crazy conspiracy out there to “get” JMU. Ratings are driven by scout assessments, and increased attention from P5 schools and their scouts can then lead to a player having an increased rating. If a recruit starts garnering more attention from high level programs, their rating will go up, and vice versa. Also, like Dukeman pointed out above me: there is an incredibly strong and well documented correlation between stars and NFL success.

Yeah, I kind of agree with you there. Part of me says let the kid enjoy the process and be celebrated but sometimes it’s a little much. Regardless, happy to see us in consideration.

That's correct. 247 had given him a high 2 star rating but until some other service rates him the composite will show zero.
Another of our recent recruits for example.

Watched a few minutes of the HUDL videos. He looks like he has great hands, but what stood out to me was his engagement during run blocking. He had a ferocity that you normally look for in OLinemen. Looking forward to seeing him in Purple and Gold.
