RE: Football Recruiting
The cupboard is getting well stocked. We may have a rough year or two, but this team will be a solid contender by 2024.

RE: Football Recruiting
Is Kaelon Black eligible for a medical redshirt? To me he's the heir apparent #1 RB on the current roster.
He played 2 games during the Spring 2021 season and 3 games this season. He was considered a redshirt freshman entering the season.

Looks like he played 3 seasons of 9+ games (17, 18 & 19). 2020 doesn't count and he has played in only 3 games this year, so that'll count as a redshirt year. He should have 1 year left.

RE: Football Recruiting
Wow! 4-star, ranked the #14 RB prospect in the country out of high school by ESPN and Rivals. 4.5 40, 6'0/215, considered more a power back, loves to run people over, "very powerful lower body." Sounds like Latrele.
With our wealth at his position, I hope he gets plenty of carries. He is transferring because he wants PT and obviously an opportunity to be seen as a next-level prospect.
Did not redshirt, playing four years (2020 doesn't count). Has a law-related degree already and is working on another one.
I am very happy that he is a Duke!

AJ Davis produced at Pitt when he got a chance to play. Great pickup from what I can tell.

I am hearing good things about the ODU head coaches recruiting ability. He may just get things turned around down there.

Has JMU had a 4 star before?

Off the top of my head, I know Titus Till and Wayne Davis were both 4 star guys according to 247sports. I don't think either had a list of blue bloods as large as what AJ Davis had though.

Scott Bracey was a 4 star, with an impressive offer list as well.

Wayne Davis originally signed with Ohio State, he didn’t need any other so-called “blue bloods”

Former 3 star recruit from Manchester HS in Richmond and Notre Dame QB transfer with 3 years of eligibility. Looked to be a favorite to start the 2021 season at ND until knee surgery in Dec 2020 (his second surgery on the knee) and Coan transferring in. He has a fairly small twitter (following 33 people) presence and as of a few weeks ago he was following 4 JMU accounts. Has since unfollowed HCCC, JMUFootball and Mike Shanahan.

RE: Football Recruiting
I’m honestly not too worried about the QB prospects in who is or isn’t transferring to us at this point. I feel pretty good about our future with Billy Atkins and Alonza Barnett.
Cignetti, who I believe understands the QB position a good deal (recruited Wilson to NC State, Davis Cheek at Elon, Cleaned up DiNucci’s play, CoJo’s final year), can identify and coach talent.
Cig has been very high on Billy Atkins in his pressers which I think is huge. Yes Houston did a horrific job in stocking the QB position so we do not have much above Atkins but if a kid who quarterbacked a Top 20 prep team, who didn’t have a senior season due to Covid can jump to #2 on a D1 roster by the end of camp, you have to believe there is something special there. Both Atkins and Barnett have showed in high school that they can be gamers which I think is a valuable intangible. I would like to see a transfer come in for competition but that said, I like what we have in the pipeline.
