The WAC Commish (and member schools) did not let GCU and CBU (to this point) compete in the WAC basketball tournament until their D1 probationary period was completed. So, I doubt they will allow Dixie State and Tarleton State to compete in the WAC Tournament as well. But anything is possible if the WAC tournament field is reduced any further. The 2020-21 WAC Tournament will most likely be only a six-team tournament as it stands now... NMSU, GCU, Seattle U, UVU, UTRGV, and Chicago State.

It may not happen for the first few years I get that. If it does, it's a bonus if not, its up to TSU to find an early season tournament of a destination road game to allow fans to celebrate.

Teams moving up do this with football, end a season in Hawaii or some place exciting.

Yeah sounds easy but you know it won't be for some reason..

There have not been any rule changes in the WAC regarding D2 Moveups being allowed to compete in the WAC tournament. Till is officially announced that changes have been made, BCG is wrong in that regard. In the first year of transition from D2 to D1, Dixie and Tarleton will still count as a D2 on all schedules. I do not see the WAC allowing schools that are technically still D2 schools to compete in the conference tournament in there first year.

BCG is wrong in saying that Tarleton can play in the NIT. The NIT is an NCAA sanctioned event. GCU did not qualify for it and CBU currently does not qualify for it. The only post-season tournaments that Tarleton will qualify for in the next four years are the CIT and CBI Tournaments, as long as Tarleton is willing to buy their way in.

The NCAA has not been clear what would happen if a D2 transitioning school were to win a conference tournament and what would happen to AQ for that conference. That's why the WAC has not allowed transitioning schools to participate in the tournament.

Your coach is either misinformed or lying with what he has said. Or he was misinformed and lied to by Tarleton AD and Administrators. Or they were misinformed or lied to by WAC Officials.

Jeff Hurd told UMKC they would have a chance to be able to host the WAC basketball tournament. That was a major selling point to get them to join and UMKC tol their fans the same thing. What Hurd didn't tell them was it had to be voted on by the other WAC schools. So it wouldn't surprise me if he said something to Dixie or Tarleton to get them to pull the trigger to become D1 and join the WAC.

Lying? That's a pretty strong word, no? I highly doubt anyone is lying or being lied to. While I agree that it is incorrect that Tarleton and Dixie will be allowed to play in the WAC tourney, I do not agree with the notion that anyone is lying.

Insert words mislead or misleading, ill-informed. The WAC is desperate for new members. Who knows what was whispered into the ears on incoming members. Deceptive practices aren't exactly new to college athletics.

It’s going to be funny when BCG was right and the holier than now Jr Aggies on this board are wrong.

Don't count on it D2 moveup. We are going to continue to dominate the WAC and your little team that plays in a high school gym is not gonna dethrone NMSU.

As long as Chris Jans is at NMSU, the Aggies will be the team to beat in the WAC. NMSU is a completely different animal with its 12,000-plus basketball arena and a rich winning tradition. I think BCG will make Tarleton State very competitive but he has a few things working against him there. I think Bryce Drew with all of GCU's money will be a bigger speed bump for NMSU. GCU also has great fan support packing their 7,200 seat arena almost every game; which should resume again once the COVID-19 virus is eradicated. Although with no fans in the stands for the foreseeable future, it will eliminate much of the home court advantage teams like NMSU and GCU feed on.

So we should all watch out for Chicago State?

So Bakersfield, GCU and CBU move up to D1 and have to wait and all of a sudden no-name Tarleton (raise your hand if you had ever heard of Tarleton before this...anyone...I'm waiting...) comes to town and everyone changes the rules for them? Even if you were able to play, you would never get past NMSU.

The only thing GCU seems to feed on at home are sub-200 basketball programs. I would make a distinction between environment and advantage. The GCU home environment is absolutely top-notch, but the degree to which that environment provides an advantage is highly debatable. The environment really is something to behold, but the novelty and spectacle of it all must wear off for opposing conference fans, players, and coaches who experience it year after year. I've had conversations with friends about the fact that we have seen true killers on the court for other teams actually embrace and feed off the energy created in that space.

I know Jans' Aggie teams feed off the GCU environment. We tease Lope fans & Havoc about drinking too much of the purple koolaid. But now we have two with Tarlton State fans now.

This is what BCG and his Texans have to look forward to (link below)...

Hey, that's a nice court! Call me crazy, but it looks like it could be 94 ft. long and 50 ft. wide, with 10 ft. hoops, just like the one in Stephenville. 01-wingedeagle
