Richie Riley done woke up the Jags.

RE: Transfer Portal
South Alabama went most of the season in disarray because of chemistry issues born by bringing in so many new players. They got their act together late and we'll never know whether they would have won the tournament or not.
You can bring in all the talent you want...at the end of the day they have to play as one.
And that's difficult to do with Riley's philosophy.

Last year's start had very little to do with chemistry. It was a bad fit between the defensive philosophy and the personnel. Once they switched to a near-full time zone the team performance took off. By the beginning of February it was one of the best-synced Jag teams I'd seen in years.
I'm sure Riley can make it happen again but it may be more difficult if there is less time to develop the team before the season begins, as may be the case.

I've got friends in low places.
That locker room was a complete mess. There's an old saying about addition by subtraction. Once Don Coleman was gone, that locker room got better...and so did the Jags.

Coleman barely played, especially after the first few games, but one guy hardly makes for big chemistry issues befuddling the whole team. I’ve got some awfully low friends, too, and Coleman actually served an excellent purpose as an example of the consequences of not buying in.
Richie Riley knows what he’s doing on the transfer market and how to handle the new players when it’s time to mesh them into a team, although I will say that the probable loss of summer development will hurt.

JC Tharrington just announced on Twitter that he is transferring to UNCG. JC broke Steph Currys career 3 point record at his high school. He was recruited by Jim Fox and ended up deciding to stay true and sign with App but he hasn't exactly fit in.

He’s a great shooter, but not quick enough to play defense in Kerns system. Best of luck to him.
