FYI...In order to be factual and keep everyone honest...

When Alo and Harris were in the game together (25 possessions) the teams defensive rebounding % was 78.5% (3 offensive vs 11 defensive)

Without Lomax only the defensive rebounding percentage was 60% (10 off. vs 15 def)

Without Harris only the defensive rebounding was 57.7% (8 off. vs 16 def)

Without Lomax and Harris defensive rebounding was 55.6% (16 off vs. 20 def)

This game had some weird stats...Wouldnt have guessed this one either.

Lineups with Lance were the worst 51.2% (13 off vs 14 def)

Trying to understand if your stats translate directly to Alo & Harris being better rebounders. Seems it could mean that UH was just better at making their first shots with Alo & Harris in the game.

Alo and Harris were -3 when they were in the game together.

We lost by 7 so them together were better than the average of every other lineup. But hey...Keep on pushing your agenda.

Seems you have changed your argument...You implied that Alo and Harris were the reason for giving up 17 offensive rebounds when only 3 offensive rebounds were given up with them on the floor.

You lose credibility when you want to hold on to an argument even when shown you were wrong with this game. Overall you may have a point...But not in this game.

No argument one way or another, but I think you are generalizing the application of stats to push an agenda when watching the games clearly shows that our guard play is weak (not one vote for any all-conference team either). And when playing a team like UH, it is glaringly obvious where their guards/perimeter players (Grimes, Hinton particularly & Sasser & Miles in the first game) killed us with their offense & their team 17 offensive team rebounds - and caused 17 Memphis TOs. And of course you'll continue to defend our Memphis grown guards & use stats that aren't directly applicable to defend them despite the fact that we have had weak guard play all year and they contributed to it.

This is getting old.

And if we don't recruit some guards who can be effective leaders of this team it will continue to be 5th, 6th place finishes, year after year. That will get old, no correct that, it is already old.

So you think that if we had Wiseman and DJ we would have finished in exactly the same spot? You once argued with me that we played in the national championship game in the 2009 season, so obviously this doesn't surprise me.

Of course I can agree that Memphis guards need to improve. I think anyone can agree with that.

I posted my response to refute your assertion that Alo and Harris where the reason we gave up 17 rebounds. The simple thing to do would have been to accept the facts and move on.

Even you can see you were wrong about the Houston game concerning Alo and Harris yet you want so badly to stick to your guns you will continue this argument.

Keep on moving those goalposts

Its highly unlikely that freshman guards are ever going to be the difference makers. That is rare.

Its going to take time and experience, not just landing the right freshman.

Not moving any goal posts, not changing my opinion. Quote all the stats you want to continue your delusions. But Alo & Harris have been at it 2 full years & they are light years behind Miles, Grimes, Hinton & Sasser off one team UH. Virtually every team in the AAC has a guard better than both. They are who they are, that on occasion - every 3-4 games or every 3-4 possessions they are in the game either might play well or have an occasional streak of 2-3 good plays. Good teams need better to succeed. And UH has shown us good guard play from their several. We need better guards/perimeter players. On the current roster only Boogie, LQ & possibly Baugh might have that potential yet they are platooned with Alo & Harris who have shown they consistently don't have the potential to win a lot of games. But this year is done. Probably won't be another game played. If Boogie & Baugh get a lot more time & are not platooned or if we sign a top guard & let him play, we might improve next season otherwise you can develop a whole new set of stats that convince you that Alo & Harris are the guys to make this team go despite continued mediocre results.

I am highly critical of Tyler...But I also see that Lomax is as good as Baugh right now based on any metric you want to look at. At guard we are not good enough and I have said that over and over again.

But you have your agenda against Lomax and Harris...It is clearly illustrated in this thread when you attempted to blame the 17 offensive rebounds on them when it wasn't true...And you still haven't admitted to that. I challenge you because you are being unfair to Lomax and Harris by trying to pin every shortcoming on them and it is far from the truth.

Actually, i just said taller players usually have a rebounding advantage over short players & your knee jerk reaction was to immediately offer up stats to defend Al & Harris, that don't tell us anything specifically about Alo & Harris being effective at blocking out. But to be clear, our team will not be successful next season, like they weren't last season or this season, if guards with potential have to platoon & share minutes with Alo & Harris.

You are outright lying at this point.

So you didn't insinuate it was because of Harris and Alo. You implied something that wasn't true...I posted stats to correct you. Obviously if only 3 offensive rebounds were given up when they were on the floor it wasn't because of them playing. Those are facts...14 offensive rebounds were given up with taller players on the floor against Houston. So your statement wasn't true...Why you continue to try to hold on to that fact is beyond me.

I agree that guard play must get better...But if you are going to try an scapegoat players...TELL THE TRUTH

And to finish off this silly contention you have about rebounds here is one more stat for you, Rebounds per 40 minutes of play
Alo - 5.7
Q - 5.2
Boogie - 5.3

Quote:Does anyone keep stats on failure to block out? Absent that I'd wager taller players get more rebounds than shorter players, especially against UH who sends 5 guys to the boards every play. We gave up 17 offensive rebounds with Alo & Harris on the floor most of the game. Draw your on conclusions.

You have changed gears again.

Now you are talking about all Memphis guards...No mention of Alo or Harris in this post at all.

Get personal & call me names all you want if it makes you feel better but I quoted real game stats & simply said Alo & Harris were on the floor most of the time, draw your own conclusions. Fine you don't like my conclusions. I clearly see your hyper sensitivity to anything negative about Alo & Harris. And I say again, those two guys have been at it for two full years & for two full years aside from Martin, we have had weak guard play (except maybe for Jones who also got frustrated with the limited minutes & left or got squeezed out). I have also said if our guards who might have potential on the team now or signed yet this year have to platoon with Alo & Harris again next year, then we will have another year of weak guard play. I get it, you don't agree & for all of your irrelevant stats, it doesn't change that we have had weak guard play - Alo & Harris have been a major part of that weak play - and by taking minutes from those that might have some potential, they too have not developed as they might have. Clear enough for you?
