...is not the answer. You keep ringing this bell like it will be a panacea, but it isn't. Some of us were around for the days of two buy games, and it wasn't very good. Figure on getting around $1.5 million for one of these games, against an average revenue of about $12 million per season in football (I think...). Do we want to increase revenue by 10% and only have 5 home games (in our brand new stadium)? I think our revenue stream is going to increase when we move, and axing a home game could potentially be a net loss of money. The scheduling we are doing right now is playing a long game.

Two "money games" are helpful to UAB's annual "bottom line", but the kind of annual income needed to move into a better conference (like the AAC) is in the tens of millions range, not one or two. When the proposed laws providing for pay for scholarship players shakes out (in Florida, California and maybe federal law) this figure will likely increase substantially. Also, the results from UCONN's experiment with altering its football program will be watched by many G5 programs across the country.

No one would expect us to be able to pull in the same time money as the AAC prior to joining them.
The main thing though is that we could if we did join that conference due to more ticket sales, conference money, etc.

If we joined the AAC and started getting their TV money & NCAA tournament money we would already be middle of the pack in total revenue in the conference.

Welp i was around for the two money games day too. Two money games is a start. Wouldnt mind three and 9 conference games even though the state HBCUs bring the crowds
I guess two money games, our HBCU boost, and a second home game that brings a travel crowd would be great.

Two money games is a not a good idea with a new stadium.
We need to be scheduling home and homes with the AAC and Mountain West, not the MAC.
I like an instate SWAC school each year, maybe with occasional JSU in the rotation. Great atmosphere and crowds.
Sunbelt rotation is also good, with heavy emphasis on the two in state schools. People in state care about those games.
Need to reach out to independents like Service academies and BYU.
Not crazy about this years schedule. Lets just hope Southern Miss is really good and gives us a highly rated win. If we beat Miami on the road the year before we move into the new stadium then everything elevates in importance after that. Win the conference also, in Birmingham, and we have another standout national story.
Go undefeated the year before we open the new stadium and now we are recruiting like never before. Better conferences are paying attention to the package UAB and Birmingham offer as a centrally located school with a growing academic impact and student body, in a football crazy state, in a city with nationally known restaurants and an easy to access airport and interstate.
One can dream big, right?
No extra buy game. I think Clark is aiming higher.

How we're shooting high when half of the games are against sub 110 schools now.
Doubt we get P5 home games

There were like 4 band folks but they played a recorded marching band National Anthem....
That is a new low...
need to start painting endzone chairs like they are people like the Talladega front stretch.

Band had a previously planned concert tonight. Not their fault they look at our schedule and see nothing planned because we just wing Pod play as a conference.

Actually, the band was UAB students plus my kid. True that I am a UAB grad, I was conducting the band tonight. I made the decision to not have the band play the anthem because there was not enough band members present for the anthem to sound good. It was my call. I am a high school band director and I will never allow the National Anthem to sound bad. Sorry if that offended some of you, but I take responsibility for that decision as it was mine.

we need to win everygame included the only money game to be in the talk for the best non P5 team
someday we will get it and it will get a lot of $$$ and someone will pouch us from cusa ,,,,someone like the B12
I dont want the AAC ,,they are too strong and it is close to impossible to make it to the top year after year
keep winning in cusa ,,,get one and two January 1 bowl and we will get invited ,,,after that ,,,,,money will never be an issue ,,,coach clark want to be a top 25 teams and this path is the best one
