The good: 17 threes and 87 points
The bad: playing the Ohio State fight song at halftime.

The ball moved.
Excellent defense.
Of course hitting 17 3's helped.
When they share the ball they can play with any team in the MAC.
Let's see what happens Tuesday against a mediocre EMU.

Yes, EMU is mediocre, but so is KSU and every team in the MAC this season. Any team can beat any other team, and lose to any other team.

This game was obviously a bit of an outlier from beyond the arc. Much like that 1-20 game last week we're not going to have many 17-33 games. The big positive takeaway though is that we were getting significantly better looks today. We won't shoot 55% every night, but as long as we're getting quality looks we'll be fine.

Agree.
But if they can consistently play the way they did today they should/ can beat any of the other teams in the MAC.

If true, the band director should be relieved of his duties. So many other things they can play.

The band didn't play it. It was a part of the show for the elementary dribble team that performed at halftime. Can we stop sharting on the band now? I think Kent State's history of doing that leads the program to it's current state.
To the dribblers' defense it was part of their show. I was impressed at how they got 80-100 elementary kids to dribble without basketballs going in every direction. They show they rehearsed had Ohio State's fight song. Also to their defense, they sat in the nosebleeds and screamed their heads off. I'd welcome them back.

If some HT show had the OSU fight song so be it. If the KSU band had played it, I would have stuck to my opinion the director should go. You don't play another schools fight song. PERIOD.

Whether part of their routine or not, it is NEVER acceptable for one Division I school to play another’s fight song. Period. Especially if it’s one we fight every day trying to be as relevant as. Anyone who doesn’t get that needs a cat scan.

Heck with the Ohio St. fight song. I’m from Ohio and I like the song. Especially with 100 six to ten year olds dribbling a basketball (actually 99 as one kid just decided to sit down and rest). My bigger concern was there were very few students. I guess Saturday afternoon is a bad time for a game. The section had only about 20 fans at the start of the game.It sort of filled in but never was much of a factor. I’m getting my cat scan tomorrow morning.

After b-to-b losses last week scoring less than 60 points in both (and shooting horribly in the process) I said the team looked gassed.
Apparently looked more lively today ... except for the post guys. Still need a few games where starting 5, with CJ/Mitch off the bench all give solid production/points/rebs/defense at the same time.

They did add some energy to the crowd. However as usual 90% of them left with their parents at half time.

Well band tradition, at least when I was there, was that the KSU band will play the other team's fight song at football games during pregame as a welcome to the other team and their fans. We are also not the only band that does that. Granted this tradition has not applied to basketball (why I do not know) and that fight song will not likely be heard even in that situation since that would require Ohio State to play at Kent which is obviously very unlikely to happen in football.
That being said outside of situations like that and other unusual circumstances the band would not and does not play the other team's fight songs during the game.
And yes doing so would likely get a band director in hot water unless there was an unusual circumstance attached to it.

In general, I do not hate OSU, however, when their fight song was played in our house, I had to hold back a vomit. Totally unacceptable.

I don’t give a rat’s ass if it was the band, a recording, or someone humming it in the stands. Another school’s fight song has no place in our house.

This is pissing me off.
THE KENT STATE FLASHER BRASS DID NOT PLAY THE OSU FIGHT SONG! It was a recorded track used by the group that was on the court that was not affiliated with the university. Was I the only one on this thread that went to the game?

RE: Kent State vs. Ohio U.
As far as the game, I am happy with the outcome. That and the crowd turnout was good too. I'm still disappointed by the way our plays develop. There was too many head-scratching moments. The offense just does not look like they rehearse anything. And that's even with a week off. It looks like we don't work on anything in practices. Do they even see game tape? The team just has not improved over the year. I see reoccurring mistakes that should have been weeded out after 7 days off. And yes, we won. But we won with the same, shoddy play.

Wait there was a game? I thought everyone showed up to watch the halftime show and complain...
Simons was on fire. I'll be interested to see if his poster dunk could make the top 10 tonight. All star weekend means fewer games. Roberts was on fire too. Williams played a very nice game and was staying in control. And Mitch and CJ added some serious energy (like usual). That chase down block by CJ was a thing of beauty. He was literally the only player on the court that didn't give up on that play. Sure OU got the rebound and scored it, but that doesn't diminish the play in my eyes.
