From what I remember, it's not nearly as much as some would have you believe.
They had an engineering study done last year and they estimated the cost would run about $15-$18 million to get it back in shape and up to ADA standards. It would cost $4 million to tear it down.
Contrary to rumors there is no black mold.

It's called Landers.
And it's better for them to eat the cost of having an average of 350 people at Hustle games than making the MSC eat it.

Yep. Saw my first Tiger basketball game there. Also many concerts and Monday night wrestling.

A lot of good memories, not to mention graduating from Memphis State University in the Coliseum.

I saw that there also.
One of my first concerts!

It can take events from the Landers Center. That rat hole with its traffic nightmares and bad concession areas need to be imploded.

Great job! Tigers should have never abandoned it. Should have stayed and made it better.

The city as usual made it all but impossible for us to do that, same reason we will stay in LB forever, all about city never what's best for university and Tiger Lane was also about SHC and LB too

It was designed so it could have been expanded. But the city chose to go with a new arena downtown instead.
Then SEC fans in town got control and tried to stuff about 2,000 additional seats into the pyramid so they could make a bid on the SEC tournament.
That forced us to build a third arena when the Griz came to town.

I don't post much but had to chime in on this one. That building was electric. Played JV Basketball for Memphis State in the late 70's and I loved the Coliseum. Also saw Earth, Wind and Fire, Prince and Rick James (Prince was the opening act), and Parliament Funkadelic in that arena. Great concerts. Driving up on game day was a feeling that I won't ever forget. By the second half of the JV game the crowd would be 3/4 full and cheering for us as if we were the varsity team. (We did have a better record). Great memories of the MSC.

I remember when they added the score/message board that hung in the middle. The Tigers had a national TV game, I think it was against Louisville. The new score board is had mud all over the side of it from a tractor pull. lol.
