Nashville (Tenn.) Lipscomb Academy quarterback Luther Richesson was not one of the big names at the Elite 11 Finals, but he earned his way there in part due to a strong performance at the Indianapolis Regional.

He finished as one of the Elite 11, was one of 247Sports' top 11 (coming in at No. 5) and was honorable mention as part of the 7-on-7 dream team.

"The lowest rated quarterback in the event per the composite, Richesson deservedly moved in to our top 11 after his third straight solid and consistent performance and after being a part of the Anthracite run to the finals, Richesson moved up even more after another great day in the 7v7 portion," said 247Sports Analyst Brandon Huffman.

Michigan State, Cincinnati, Charlotte, Central Michigan and Appalachian State have offered Richesson. The struggle was between MichSt and Bearcats until QB Katin Houser (ranking 89) decommitted from Boise State and committed to MichSt. They invite 20 QB's to the Elite 11 and hold 7 on 7 contests with the WRs changing teams every round.
247 ranked the top 11 QBs: name, rating, team committed to

1. Cade Klubnik .9729 Clemson
2. Devin Brown .9004 USC
3. Walker Howard .9876 LSU
4.Conner Weigman .9845 Texas A&M
5. Luther Richesson .8466 (#71 QB) to nobody as of now.....
6. Quinn Evers 1.0000 tOSU
7. Ty Simpson .9859 Bama
8. Drew Allar.9435 PennSt #1 of two QB's
9. AJ Duffy .9004 FloridaSt .
10. Katin Houser .8884 MichSt
11. Nick Evers .9004 Florida
All these QBs are least 6-2.

Richesson went to the Bearcats Midnight Madness.

It is pretty clear he is treating UC as a fall-back. He could've committed about 10 times now, but he is now saying he is waiting until after his football season to commit...my guess is we either move on or accept that we aren't taking a QB in this class unless he commits and doesn't get the offers he is waiting on.

Marcus Peterson with Clifton Bling and a big smile.

How does one obtain something like this?

What is the chain called? A touchdown chain? A firstdown chain?

RE: FB Class of 2022
Patrick Body Jr is a two year starter at both WR and DB for Gateway HS in Pittsburgh, PA, in the famous WPIL (Pitt City league.) His father Patrick Body played DB for the Bengals in 2005. Body Sr played for Toledo and Body Jr turned down offers from both Pitt and WVU. Body's HS coach says that Body can play S, SS, OLB and of course CB. Body continues the Bearcat trend where they recruit athletes that are 6-0 or taller. 13 of the 14 2022 recruits are 6-0 or taller. Only CB Ken Willis of Cincy Colerain HS is 5-11 and he can man cover extremely well - and he is the lowest rated Bearcat recruit.

Cincy area schools: Colerain, Princeton, LaSalle, and Lakota West are all turning out really good college ready DB's.
Lindy's National College Football review rates UC's DBs as the best in the country, specifically better than LSU. CLF has a plan/goal that 60% of his football players are from Ohio. The number is now 61%. CLF is an active recruiter in all football recruits. DC Mike Tressel knows what he is doing. He was Bearcat LB coach under Coach Dantonio in 2004-2006 coaching Tyjuan Hagler and Corey Smith and was DC for some strong MichStU defenses. UC, SMU and UCF have four 4 star recruits combined which is four more than all the other G5 conferences/teams combined. I worry about the Indiana and Notre Dame teams but not about Bearcat 2022 recruits.

I'd venture a not too wild guess that it is either JQ Hardaway or Oliver Bridges.

Great addition. We are turning into Defensive Back U. An embarrassment of riches.

This is fun.

I know these guys aren't signed yet, but I hope everyone is soaking this in. Our last few recruiting classes (this one included) have been the best in school history. The stretch we're seeing has been phenomenal.

And the efforts will begin to pay off on the field here soon as well.

This is fun.

I'll tell you one thing that this shows me is the difference between awful and great is never as big as you think it is. Luke inherited a 4 win team with so little talent that they won 4 games and were a handful of plays from having only 1 win that year. Anyone who would have said we'd be undefeated and playing the best recruiting SEC team over the last 4 years to a last second FG in year 4 would be lying. I've always believed this was a great job despite the conference issues given all the improvements we're made in campus, athletic facilities, and recruiting geography. If you had told me we'd be pulling in the type of recruits we've been getting and have a handful of players who are legitimate first two days draft prospects I would have told you even I didn't think the ceiling was that high.

RE: FB Class of 2022
I'm pretty pumped for the 2 recent gets in Hardaway and Body Jr, with the latter being underrated IMO. Scruggs and Eliano have done a great job recruiting (along with alot of other coaches.)

Other than a lack of OL and missing a QB (unless they get Richesson,) it's been a very good class. Even without Freeman, they have still been able to put together a very, very good class on the defensive side of the ball which is a good sign for the future.

Lets just hope UC starts off strong, and they are able to snag a couple of highly rated guys who maybe don't currently have UC @ the top of their list. They only have a handful of spots left open as it won't be a full class, so hopefully they finish it strong and end up with a top 40 class.

Something to consider...

At the moment, UC's class would be at these ranks in each P5 conference:

ACC: 5th out of 14, behind FSU, VT, Clemson, and BC (who has 7 more commits)
Big Ten: 6th out of 14, ahead of Wisconsin, Michigan State, Illinois, and Iowa
Big 12: 7th out of 10
Pac 12: 3rd out of 12, only behind Oregon and USC
SEC: 10th out of 14, ahead of Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee

We are #1 in the G5 by nearly 40 points over #2 SMU, and #3 Boise State

3 out of 11 thus far; there will be a lot more turnover on defense after the next year than on offense. A lot of young guys on offense already here particularly at the skill positions.

We're going to have some serious catch-up on the OL after this season I'm thinking. Skill positions are fine.

Watch out for UCF. They only have 8 players committed, but their average rating is 86.41 ahead of UC's 85.86. They are in the running for a few 4 star players and several more high 3's. They could pass UC if they finish strong.

That said, I'd actually be happy if UCF and some other teams finished strong. Anything to improve the quality of the conference. UCF just needs to grow a pair and schedule better OOC opponents to help give the AAC respect. The AAC only will get respect when they consistently beat P5 teams.

SMU's class has a higher average rating as well, thanks to a couple of massive top 150 signings. But they don't seem to be in the running for enough high 3* players to pass UC, unless UC only signs 20 players and SMU signs 25.

Right now, with only 3-4 spots left in our class, we have the highest average recruit rating in the history of the AAC...if UCF can keep it up, that's great (though I'm not sure if they will given how many spots they still have to fill), I'd love to see multiple consistent Top 25 teams in the conference. SMU almost assuredly won't, as the remainder of their class outside of their top two guys is about average for them.

I just love that our average is that high WITHOUT a crazy recruit or two. In the past we were lucky to get one or two guys a class above what our AVERAGE is now. For reference, these are every recruit above an 85 in the Fickell-coached era, I think you'll see, there is a trend...barely any misses (and one was a headcase):

Home Runs:
James Wiggins
Michael Warren
Jarrell White
Myjai Sanders
Josh Whyle

Hits:
Charles McClelland
Lorenz Metz
Ben Bryant
Arquon Bush
Malik Vann
Leonard Taylor

Bunts (showing well in limited opportunities so far):
Jadon Thompson
Justin Harris

Misses:
RJ Potts
Tavion Thomas (due to transfer, was incredibly talented)

Jury still out, too young:
Johnathan Allen
Tyler Scott
Ethan Wright
Kobe McAllister
Chris Scott
Marquez Bell
Justin Wodtly
Jaheim Thomas
Evan Prater
Sammy Anderson
De'arre Macdonald
11 more in the '21 class
12 so far in the '22 class

[To compare, in the 2010-2016 classes COMBINED we had 12 players rated above an 85 on 247)

28 P5's and ND are ahead of us, which means 36 P5's trail us.

Put us in the P5 and keep Fick and we would be 15-30 every year.

Hell, we'll be 15-30 every year already 03-lmfao...this is so great, I'm just enjoying the ride and not worried about the last stop.

I'm of the mindset that Miami ****** up the game for Houston, Cincinnati, Louisville, Memphis, etc. Louisville was a "hold the nose and take 'em" for the ACC, but Miami showed in the 80s, 90s, and 00s, that no one would be able to compete with a metropolitan school in a recruiting hotbed when they aren't at a significant resource disadvantage. I have no doubt that were Cincinnati in the ACC, Big Ten, or Big 12, they'd be at or near the top of each conference in short order.

To the point everyone has made above, I think next year's class is where you will really see things take off. Back to back years with time spent in the top 10 and hopefully a ton of TV time and press on ESPN etc. The ball has just started rolling as far as I'm concerned. As long as we can keep Fickell, he has shown that he can have an excellent staff in place.

National Recruitment Analyst just put in a high confidence crystal ball for Oliver Bridges, 6'2" corner from Maryland. No idea where we're going to put all of these guys on the defense, but I definitely don't mind over-recruiting the defensive backfield in a conference with the offenses we tend to have.

https://247sports.com/Player/Oliver-Bridges-46103119/

FWIW, if he commits, our average recruit rating would push to over 86, and it would put us at 26th nationally once again.

6-2 with a 4.4 40. Great offer list including Penn St. I'd love to see us close the deal with him:
