Per typical NIU luck, the weather is supposed to suck on Saturday, which I imagine will push down attendance even further.

Yep. I'm not sure if I will make it this Saturday. Depends on the forecast closer to the game. I have to drive almost 90 miles each way, and it's not fun in crappy weather - especially since it gets dark so damn early. If it looks okay earlier, I may just go for the women's game.

Where exactly on the West End? They folding up some upper-level seat sections? Sounds like it. Empty seats anyway. But overall probably a good move to have more features.
Will they throw hotdogs DOWN from up there? Just asking.

I believe it’s on the track. So closer to the court. You can sit and watch all the “exciting” action on the court - then shake your head and drink more.

I will take credit for pitching this idea for awhile now to Sean Frazier and others. The west side bleachers are never out anyway. That is the area behind the basket at the end where the Huskies sit. I’m hoping it’s up close to the top of the lower bowl. I’m hoping for a fence with just enough room to walk through in front of it or have people walk by in back of this area. I’m hoping there is a couple big screen TVs in there. One on our game and another one on some other big game going on with the sound off. High top tables and chairs to be able to watch the NIU game and hopefully just add some much needed atmosphere to a very plain arena.

Thank you for trying to improve the game experience.

Taking a larger view ... Touchdown Village at Huskie Stadium, the new Victor E. Pub, and the deformalized and renamed Victor E. Bash moved to the Convo ... someone is thinking mass appeal for a change, or paying attention to suggestions. I.e., how to use the limited assets NIU has to greater advantage.

They're learning. Hope it isn't too late.

I think they should open up donations to try and make a permanent roof with add-on side enclosures for the colder games in the endzone. Last year the thing was busy even at the end of the season and I'm sure brought in some $$ last year.
Vanderbilt had a permanent style roof that would make it look a bit better in the endzone at HS and also eliminate more area for rain to hit the spectators.
Would be a minimal cost my guess and would look and give a better experience for the fans there. Need to build off what seemed to be a real good showing there every game this season.

RE: Victor E. Pub Opens This Saturday
So what is offered in Victor E. Pub? I know that facebook post said $2 drink specials and if I was still in college, I'm sure that would entice me. I need a little more and, since I'm heading out to DeKalb next Tuesday with a friend of mine, I'd like to be prepared as to what they offer in the pub.

Fun atmosphere, 4 and 7 dollar big beers, 5 dollar mixed drinks, Italian sausages or chicken sandwich, coaches and high top tables a couple of big screen TVs with some other games on.

What kind of beer?
(I'm one of those where the answer to this question matters).

Really? I’ve seen Coors lite, Miller, Keystone light, Budweiser and others and mixed drinks. They have enough choices for a sporting event the place isn’t meant to be a full service bar.

Yeah, it matters because I'm not going to spend money on any of those beers. I just wanted to know.

Some of you may not believe this but they actually expanded the selection of beers based on input from fans! Imagine that.

That's good news and something that interests me (and a smart move). Thanks for the update.
