The XFL
Well college football is pretty much over and nobody cares about the NFL. So let's set our sights on the upstart new league opening play next month. The teams had a 2-week minicamp in December and started training camp today.

Former Broncos on XFL rosters as of the start of training camp:

Dallas Renegades -
OL Willie Beavers
DL Richard Ash
LB Asantay Brown

DC Defenders -
TE Donnie Ernsberger

St. Louis BattleHawks -
WR Daniel Braverman

John Keenoy had been drafted onto the Renegades with Beavers, but he has been absent on their roster for a while. I don't know if he's talking to NFL teams or is injured or what. There are quite a few MAC players on XFL rosters. Should be fun to see these guys playing again.

I'll be rooting for the BattleHawks as they're the only team in the midwest. And they've also got the best uniforms/helmets. And having a former Bronco on the team is the cherry on top.

Anyone else plan on watching? Who will you be rooting for?

Keenoy was recalled to the Vikings practice squad.

I'll be watching, I loved the old XFL. Since there's no team near us, I guess I'm a Renegades fan with three Broncos on the roster.

How come a new pro football league starts up every year?

Honestly tho, I think these leagues would be more successful if they ran during the summer months. The only real competition is MLB.

Gotta agree Renegades w/ 3 Broncos

RE: The XFL
Here's a list of rule changes. Kickoffs will be way different, but with more returns. No extra points, but options for 1,2, or 3 point conversions. Shootout-style overtime. The most interesting change will be handling the clock, they really want games to finish in under 3 hours and so it's a running clock with incompletions or the ball going out of bounds.

I like this as the "experimental league" where some changes can be observed in real practice, and coaches can adapt to them over time to see how they really work. I'd love to see college games go quicker, the ESPN timeouts are ridiculous and ruin the pace of the game in my mind.

In the summer in towns without NFL football. Is the New York or Dallas market really doing to embrace another football team? Where as someplace like Grand Rapids, Toledo, Louisville or Memphis probably would. But what do I know, I married into my money, Vince McMahon made his.

RE: The XFL
After six months of CFB and the NFL who really cares about another three months of XFL football? The original XFL didn't have to fight with the numerous entertainment options society has today. Still couldn't make it.

Keenoy has rejoined the Renegades.

That makes 4 Broncos on their roster!

He needs to be the featured back. It's hard to just catch on as the featured back. Whenever Bogan/Bellamy got most of the carries, Jarvion faded a bit into the background. When he got 15+ carries a game, he just wore down other teams.

I believe that Jarvion has signed with the Ottawa Redblacks of the CFL.

RE: The XFL
Final cuts have been made.

Ernsberger made the roster for the DC Defenders. Asantay, Beavers, and Keenoy made the cut for the Dallas Renegades.

Rooting for a Texas team feels... strange, and possibly masochistic.

RE: The XFL
I believe Braverman is on IR. Both he and Ash will likely end up on the XFL's "9th team", which is basically a pool of reserves and free agents for the league's 8 teams.

And, just like that I'm done: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nf...597462002/

This is what's called not knowing your target audience. The XFL was going to get a lot of viewers disgruntled with the NFL's shenanigans and forays in politics who just wanted to watch pure football.

If they care so much about expanding opportunity, they'd reserve a roster spot on each team for a guy who never played football, and let him play 10 snaps a game.

If they really cared about getting women into officiating more than virtue signaling based on market public relations consultants, they'd support a program to get women into it while they are in college, reffing high school games, to build a base where more refs are needed most to build upon.

Still, good luck to our Broncos trying to live the dream!

Spring leagues with gimmicky rules and players who aren't NFL ready aren't going to work.

Period.

As much as I love Football I'll be watching Big Ten basketball (don't get MAC games), the Big Dance, and then the Tigers before XFL.

I'm out, too.

What an insult to women. Tokenism sucks.
