RE: National Championship JMU Versus NDSU January 11, 2020
We are becoming a much more sophisticated football fan base.
I have been impressed with the high level discussion and knowledge.

Jabril Cox has entered the Transfer portal. Reading that he will graduate in May so he would be immediately eligible elsewhere. Most likely looking to raise his draft stock as he is currently projected a mid round pick.

Yes I like this too. It accomplishes so much. 1) weakens their defense next year 2) debunks the myth and bravado of their fans that their players "would never leave" NDSU for FBS because they are such quality 3) disrespects all of the MVFC at once as his comment about wanting to play FBS amounts to "I want to play real football and not against these midgets all the time". I've never seen a group of conference fans so proud of their conference because they get their asses beaten year in and year out by one team. Even the SEC fans can at least hang their hat on the fact that it has been 4 different teams in recent history that have taken home the title.

In the last five years, has JMU lost to any other MVC school than NDSU? I don’t think they have. NDSU has rarely been challenged besides us in all three games during this span two of which ended with JMU in the red zone.

Maybe he ends up at LSU:

Did NDSUs QB enter the portal? He can only go down from here.

He already redshirted a season so he’d lose a season of eligibility

He could always get a hardship waiver, which the NCAA handled out like candy last season (Justin Fields, Tate Martell, etc).

Has any other MVFC team even challenged us? I feel like that conference is maybe as good as the SOCON once you take NDSU out of the equation.

Really like the NDSU peeps I've met in person. That said, the MVFC love fest for the Bison is spot on. I respect UR, Villanova, UD, W&M, NH and Towson. But I'm never going to brag for them. Them winning the CAA should speak for itself.

We beat NDSU one year. Beat ourselves another year and they were the better team this year.
The difference between the two programs the last four years has been very slight. I feel like they have been a dad more physical and have had better coaching. The transition in their coaching staff with each change is seamless. They all have run the same offensive and defensive schemes. Withers to Houston to Cig has provided scheme changes each time.
The consistency of scheme year in and out gives NDSU an advantage over JMU.

Yup, all you need is to come up with a rationale/excuse and be someone the NCAA likes (i.e Lance) and the waiver would flow. The NCAA is their worst enemy with the entire waiver process and inconsistency.
If Lance wanted to transfer he would get a waiver guaranteed.

Meh dont see him getting a hardship waiver unless something happens in the program. Fields cited racism as a reason and Martell had a coaching change

If he goes to a football factory (OSU, Michigan, etc) I'm sure they will find a way to have a hardship.

Why would he need a waiver when he’ll have graduated and can play as a grad student?
Just bantering about the process.....but the person we were discussing was Lance, who played as a RFr this past season. That if Lance wanted to transfer to a football factory the waiver process is a joke.

kind of messed up that it appears that Bo Pelini the new D coordinator at LSU and former Youngstown State head coach is involved in recruiting a North Dakota State LB to transfer to LSU. What a weasel- that's like Houston recruiting a couple of JMU commits to ECU when he left or Kevin Keatts taking Brice with him to NC State from UNCW.
It's all fair game BTW but it just rubs me a little the wrong way.
