RE: Possible Coaching Candidates List
If successful Brady would be a 2 year hire. Then we would be back at this again.

Some of you guys need to jump on twitter and straighten GP out about the search firm. I don't understand why so many in the media and the AD office get this wrong when you guys know what really happened.

That's going to be the case for 95%+ of the people we're considering. If you're at Memphis and are offered a head coach job at a top P5 school, you're probably going to take it. It's the reality of our G5 status. More than anything, we need someone who can sustain our success and build on it.

Ryan Silverfield has said he'd like to retire in Memphis. That's a bold statement. If we were to hire him, I'd hope we set his buyout to a point to where he'd be committed to that claim.

Loved him when he was at AState. Good coach and a great guy.

Dillingham rejoining Norvell, so maybe our current OC stays... thats huge. If not... hire RS, call Will Hall @ Tulane.

I'm wondering that as well. He (Silverfield) is not acting like majority of "interim" coaches (i.e. making home visits and making sure recruits are still committed).

Lets see how he does without the Heisman trophy winner playing QB for him.

Yep. And who knows how he will do without a Heisman trophy winner playing QB.

RE: Possible Coaching Candidates List
We are selling ourselves short with Silverfield. This is a great job. Lot's of coaches want it. Why hire an Offensive line coach? At this point in time we are good enough to get a guy that doesn't need on the job training of how to run a program. We need a high octane offensive minded head coach. Go take a look at Napier or Healy's offense. Both are great and similar to Norvell.

We shouldn't settle.

Also heard Giannotto on the CA podcast saying he was surprised they're not using a firm and committee approach like they did with the previous 2 hires.

Geoff alluded to this as well. Odd that all our media has it wrong, whereas a couple of MTO posters know the real story.

Fuente's offense isn't bad. Its the defense from the guy the VA Tech people wanted to keep that is Fuente's problem.

Silverfield a. LOCK

for about 3 weeks now i have felt this way.. im not so sure anymore. RS is a candidate because he brings continuity and the players love him. what does every new AD do? they hire THEIR guy. RS is using his platform to get his foot in the door. the players speaking out, voicing their opinion for him is great and all, i just dont know if it will matter much. Laird isnt using the search firm because he knows who he wants to talk to.

I hear Silverfield is definitely not a lock. But he's getting a serious look. There is more than 1 name on the list.

Btiger's intelligent posts are akin to a Corpse Flower bloom. Takes 8-10 years and it smells bad when it happens.

I hope they pump the brakes, follow the interview process. Hire the best offensive guy we can find. I mean a high powered offensive mind. The Tigers have been winning because we can out score anybody. That's what we should try to keep doing.
