Is Tim Tebow still qb?
He wasn't even the best part of that team. BTW this UC team's D is better much better than the 2009 squad, no depth and they got worn the **** down the 2nd half of the season.
2009 team’s O was on a completely different level as well. 2009 team playing Florida was like us this year playing tOSU with similar results.
Nah bring your D and you can compete. UC was down on the road 17-7 to a top ten Memphis offense, and the D held Memphis scoreless for 6-7 possessions. Memphis has 4 NFL locks on offense skill positions. If UC holds Memphis to 3 TD drives of 70 yards or longer, win special teams we win.
Well the 2009 team went into Pittsburgh and secured the title on the road. The results speak for themselves. Neither team is beating a top 5 opponent.

RE: 12/3 CFP rankings
Not to mention we would likely be playing either the 3rd SEC team or the 3rd Big Ten team, which I'm confident we'd at least give them a game, unlike the 2nd best team in the country in a borderline elite year of football talent back in 2009.

This was the biggest news of the night and not being talked about enough. The AAC championship is now the de facto play in for the Cotton Bowl. Stakes are absolutely huge.

RE: 12/3 CFP rankings
Our 2009 team was loaded with talent on both sides of the ball. The only area that was lacking was defensive backs (which was entirely sophomores and freshman other than Aaron Webster)
Defensive starters:
DL - Sr Ricardo Mathews - 7 year NFL career
DL - So Derek Wolfe - 8+ year NFL career
DL - So John Hughes - 6 year NFL career
LB - So JK Shaffer - 3 year NFL career
LB - Sr Andre Revels - 3rd team All American
LB - Sr Curtis Young - signed by Green Bay, then 10+ year career in Arena football
LB - Sr Alex Daniels - signed by Oakland Raiders but got injured
Offensive Starters:
OL - Sr Mike Windt - 9 year NFL career * edit - long snapper
OL - Sr Jeff Linkenback - 6 year NFL career
OL - Jr Jason Kelce - 9+ year NFL career
WR - Sr Mardy Gilyard - 1st team All-American and 2 year NFL career
WR - Jr Armon Binns - 2 year NFL career
TE / WR - So Adrien Robinson - 3 year NFL career
RB - So Isaiah Pead - 5 year NFL career
QB - Sr Tony Pike - 1 year in NFL
QB when Pike was injured - So Zach Collaros - 10 year CFL career
Kicker - Jacob Rogers - 4 year NFL career (always as a backup though, only actually played in 1 game)

Mike Windt was a long snapper, not an OLman, but yes, that was an exceptionally talented bunch. Unfortunately, our DBs were abominations that year, and were exploited nearly every game.

D got tired in the 2nd half, and I don't think there was a lot depth. Points scored against UC, 45, 21, 36, 44, 51 to end the season.

I would say the next year proved the lack of depth argument correct as well.

Combined with the uptempo offense which scored fast or punt...the D was out there a lot. They survived the first half of the season fine. A perfect example early in the season was the Fresno St. game. Fresno dominated time of possession, ran the ball consistently, chalked up a ton of first downs. Time of possession was 43-16 in favor of FSU. BK went with 2 deep safeties due to injuries, it worked 28-20.

Anyone done the math on where the AAC ranks out when Uconn is tossed from these rpi rankings?
