I haven't seen the Hoyas play yet this season but, indeed, that style of substitution can be irksome. Ewing is still learning on the job, it would seem.

huge test for the Hoyas.... If they don't go 0-2 I'll be happy.

Well, Joey had no valid reason to have it granted. His scholarship was not at threat from being taken away at Marquette, he's not moving closer to family, etc. It, frankly, should not have been granted. In regards to Izzo, I'm shocked he has taken such an emotional stance over this particular issue, yet did no such thing or made no such threat when the off-the-court allegations regarding his program arose last year.

Wish both Joey and Sam well, but Marquette Basketball is in a better place today without the Hausers, and I will just leave it at that. Hope they do well at both MSU and Virginia, respectively.

Georgetown demolishes Texas. Huge win for the Hoyas and Ewing.

Yeah. Now get a shot vs Duke to really be looking good. Tall task though.

RE: 2019-2020 Big East Games Thread
the problem though that I see for the Big East is like normal, the OOC isn't going great. 7 OOC losses already, with a lot of exempt tournaments left to play. That number could double by the end of this weekend..... Those start to add up in a hurry. Only have 2-3 Q1 wins right now likely- Purdue vs Marquette, Georgetown vs Texas(neutral- so only need top 50), and DePaul @ Iowa...

Days like today are key-
Villanova vs Mississippi St
Georgetown vs Duke
Xavier vs UConn

The Nova and Xavier games are huge.... Big difference for instance with Nova- win and you get Baylor. Lose and you get a no win situation vs Coastal Carolina. For Xavier- win and you get a 2nd win out of this weekend. lose and you have to beat either Miami or Florida to avoid going 1-2 this weekend..

At quick glance, I could see the BE being the best conference this year by season's end. I'm not particularly impressed with the other leagues. BE has strong depth. Exciting.

Are you seeing other conferences that have much more than 3 or 4 OOC Q1 wins? BE having 3 (or 4 since Missouri is on the cusp) is right in line from what I see.

Obviously it's hard to predict what a Q1 will be this early, but depending on what analytics site, looks like all 6 major basketball conferences (doing AAC a favor by excluding them from this example) have 1-4 Q1 OOC wins.

I agree with this. I don't think BE has that over powering monster elite team... but the depth is so so good. My mid-season, BE is going to be a BEast! Hoping seedings work out so we can see more second weekend games in March.

Big Ten has 4 already- and a 5th is very possible with Northwestern over Providence....

And the problem is that the Big East winning pct is only .833 right now. Sounds great but it's lower than the ACC (.911), B12(.897), and P12(.849). Tied with the SEC. With a round robin, that hurts a lot.

that's where this next month is going to be huge..... Have got to perform here to have any chance of good seedings conference wide... Once you get to conference play- it's hard to really improve the conference seedings....

That's ok. Against "high major" (as defined by Bart Torvik, which I think is P5 + BE, A10 and AAC), they are .500 with 6 wins and 6 losses. I think all the other "high majors" besides ACC and AAC are also.

AAC 2-6 (but one of those wins is A10)
ACC 5-2 (but 3 wins are against Amer and Cal... yuck!)
B10 8-9
B12 4-4
BE 6-6
P12 6-4 (but they have some horrid upsets to mid/low majors)
SEC 6-6

Regardless... still only week 3. Can't wait to see how things continue to play out!
