I personally think Norvell is already gone, but what job did he have before Memphis?

Still waiting for Matt Campbell's "supposed" geniuses to rub off on Iowa State. When local idiots Gary Parrish and Geoff Calkins suggested Tennessee should have hired Campbell when UT got off to that horrible start, I stopped taking any words those baphoons talked about involving football, seriously. But he should be a solid 7-5 to 8-4 in Ames. Which we all know is so hard to do in the Big 2 conference LMAO. The American is running circles around your supposed power conference. Matt Campbell at Tennessee would have resulted in UT's first 9 loss season ever, without a doubt. Why is local sports radio in Memphis so stupid? I mean besides for Greg Gaston, who is a class act.

RE: Chad Morris Fired!!
I’m not surprised that Morris was fired but have to wonder if it was the right call. Morris was trying to build a spread-heavy offense from a team full of fullbacks and tight ends and most of us knew that this would take time; I’m of the opinion that he did not have enough time to recruit the players needed for such a drastic change.
If Norvell leaves Memphis for this job, it’s a mistake IMHO.

I'm not sure if it was fair or not but he had lost the team. Here are the reactions from the players. I wasn't in the locker room so I don't know if it's a fair reaction from the kids you coached and gave some scholarships to, but it is not flattering in any way
https://www.secrant.com/rant/arkansas-sp.../86599280/
And I agree with you on Norvell. When Arkansas calls, he needs to listen politely and then take his time. I understand leaving for Florida State, I would hesitate to leave for Arkansas right now, especially with the team he has coming back.

Wouldn't surprise me but I dont know anything. I was real angry about Fuente leaving. I'm not sure why but if Norvell leaves, I'm not as bothered. I hope he leaves like Frost and not like Fuente
Either way, we will be aight.

Fuente was no surprise, he made it clear from the beginning he wasn't staying here, and really only anticipated 2 seasons with us. Then he arrived and realized just how God awful we truly were, so it took him 4 seasons, lol. But the way he left pissed me off. After that Ole Miss game he was checked out on the VA Tech gig the 2nd half of the season, even trying to flip recruits to go there, from what I understand.
I really think Norvell is genuine buying into what he is building...potentially the next Gary Patterson of Memphis. I don't think he's leaving for a low-level P5 job like AR. I could see FSU though.

If Norvell leaves Memphis, you ought to think about Willie Taggart. He inherited a bigger mess than he probably even anticipated. I don’t think I would give him a rebuild job, but he ought to be able to maintain the new standard at Memphis.

RE: Chad Morris Fired!!
Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t Morris a highly thought of OC at Clemson when SMU hired him? Dabo is no dummy and I’m fairly certain that he would not have a bad coach on his staff.
Of course, people change (see Ed Orgeron for an example). Still, it strikes me as odd that he would be so highly thought of at one place and despised at another.
I read the SECRant piece linked above and to me, some of these players sound like entitled brats. Of course, I could be wrong...

Rhule is the guy y’all need to be going after. Let him bring his own staff and create his own culture.
Once again I state that Norvell should not consider the AR position.

Nope. That was Fuente, We were really bad for 5 years, and have been really good for 6 now. Norvell has been here for 4 of them.

Because he could still end up exactly like Chad Morris. And b/c Memphis can pay him whatever Arky can pay him.
Assuming he wants to stay. He played college ball at Central Arkansas, and I'm pretty sure Arky might be his dream job.

Taggart? No. My first guess is we will interview our AC, who has been here a long time, and understands Norvell's offense, and is our best recruiter. Better than Norvell, even. Silverfield.

Couldn't disagree more. Taggart's done his best by building a team from the embers. Did it at WKU and did it at USF (stocking up on talent). Didn't do much at Oregon in his one year, and certainly didn't do anything in Tallahassee. Prior to going to Oregon, he succeeded by getting enough talent to "out-talent" the opposition, then got out before having to prove he could do anything with it. Thing is, he never had the opportunity to do that at Oregon before FSU hired him, and he was never going to out-talent the better teams in the ACC. I'm not convinced that he could replicate that at an AAC place in 2020 - the conference has definitely improved since we hired him to replace Skip.
And besides, if you had $18MM and just had a spectacular flame-out, wouldn't you take a year to enjoy some of that? If I were him, I'd do the "volunteer" thing with St. Nick in Tuscaloosa and see if I could rehabilitate my career in a couple of years.
