You're 2.5 ahead of Drexel in sixth.

Evan, 2 games ahead in the loss column. We tie them and we are the seven seed given their current tie breaker. Splitting hairs.

Elon gets the win, with Hofstra looking like they will survive.

Man, those C of C unis were bad! Look like they bought them after the tournament last weekend, at the Y.

Yeah, I agree. I'm glad they lost -- why couldn't they have played that poorly against us? Riller did his patented move near the end of the game of leaping directly into his defender while simultaneously throwing the ball in the general neighborhood of the basket -- three free throws. I can't believe he continues to get away with that. Meanwhile, in the Hofstra/NE game there was actual contact by a Hofstra defender against a prayer trey (which went in!) but it wasn't called. A 4-point play there would have tied the game with 8 seconds left. Instead, trailing by 1, NE had to keep fouling and Hofstra kept making them.

RE: CAA and Other MBB Games of Interest
Hofstra fouled up 3, and Jason Strong had a strategy for intentionally missing a free throw, which was to shoot up so it would hit the bottom of the rim and he could catch it kind of like throwing a ball off the ceiling and catching it. His execution of the free throws with a make and then a miss was what he wanted, but when trying to get his own rebound he moved too soon and got called for a lane violation.

With 12:03 left, second half fouls were 9 for Northeastern and 1 for Hofstra. Both teams shot free throws well with Northeastern having a higher percentage and Hofstra having more attempts and makes, which is usual. Northeastern leads the CAA and possibly Division I (I'll check ESPN after today's games) in free throw percentage and is last in the CAA in free throws made per game. JMU is last in the CAA by .046 in free throw percentage and leads the CAA in free throws made per game. Hofstra is second in the CAA in free throw percentage and free throws made per game. Hofstra's free throws made per game differential is +5.68, and JMU is second at exactly +2. I don't have a way of checking that for every Division I team.

Strange, we get swept on the southern road swing while Elon wins both.

There's no consistency in the CAA this year.

RE: CAA and Other MBB Games of Interest
For some perspective on where all stands with just 5 games left, this was the preseason prediction for the CAA:

1. Hofstra
2. Charleston
3. Northeastern
4. JMU (cough)
5. Delaware
6. Towson
7. Tribe
8. Drexel
9. UNCW
10. Elon

Hofstra up by 11 on Charleston.
Delaware leads Elon by 5.
Northeastern up by 10 on UNCW.

All at Halftime.

We're in 3rd.

CoC has a more difficult remaining schedule

I was looking at thing slast night. I do think our best scenario right now is let Hofstra beat up on the other teams they plan in the jumble (CoC last night, Delaware, Drexel, Towson) and we ride it to 2nd place. I'm not sure we want it to be a jumbled mess with tie-breakers and other nonsense.

RE: CAA and Other MBB Games of Interest
Charleston and Delaware both have tougher runs down the stretch. They also have to face each other end of season. Delaware, after our game tomorrow, has home games with HU and NU - then finishes on the southern swing, CC and UNCW. Towson has to finish with games at Hofstra and Northeastern.

I watched Charleston last night, they had the CBS game at 7PM. They really looked sloppy, not very good.

We really do have a break with our schedule down the stretch run. Tomorrow is a huge opportunity, let's hope we take it this time. If we do, it sets us up in great position for that 2 spot - and if Hofstra falters a couple games....

My only hesitation abt the 2 seed is if NE comes in at 7. Would hate to play them in our first game but wouldn’t mind facing Drexel again in DC though it would be a tough game if Drexel falls to 7 . No easy games at all. Just win and let the chips fall where they may.

Even though we aren’t playing our best ball, we should enter the tournament with some confidence and belief that we can win it all. If we beat Towson (which won’t be easy), we’ll go into the tournament with at least one victory over every team. That should tell the guys a lot about the fact they have a chance to cut down the nets.

Of course any momentum (like entering on a 5 game win streak) will only boost that confidence and belief.

We have to get past the hottest team in the league on Saturday first.

Northeastern over Charleston 65-51. Riller held scoreless in the second half and only scores 9 in the game. Beware the Huskies.

Wow. If we win today, Hofstra will be up two games in the loss column with only four to go. Hope they enjoy the NIT this year!

If VCU had caa refs officiating their game tonight against Dayton they wouldn’t have enough players to finish this game.
