That was the line at the end. Most people were taking Memphis at less than six. Vegas lost on this game probably. The reason the line moved was because most of the money was going on Memphis and giving the points. Vegas kept moving the line to get 50/50 betting on the game. SMU does not follow their team like Memphis does.

The line has as much to do with bad gamblers as anything. Memphis people will bet Memphis no matter what the line is. SMU is not as engaged. Most people that don't gamble were shocked we were favorites by 5.5/6. The line was because all the betting was going to Memphis, not because Vegas thought we were better. That's how betting lines work. Vegas set the line early at 3.5. They thought the game was a push. Home teams get 3 points. The half point is a sucker bet. They know Memphis is way more passionate and they figured Memphis would bet Memphis even with the half point. The line kept moving because Memphis kept betting Memphis.

Just remember. All Vegas wants to do is get 50/50 play. They end up winning on the VID if they do. It's that simple. Gamblers set the line based on play. They probably lost because it was below six for most of the week. If I bet on Monday when the line is -3.5 Memphis, then I won.

Have to wonder if the officating crew spent some time down at tunica before the game.

Depends on the book. The sites ranged from 5.5 to 6.5, I got it at 6 Fri night.
