If I had to pick a few teams I would personally adjust up or down it would be much higher with Ball State ( I have them as preseason champs), CMU better than that, and Akron a bit overrated in Kenpom

Don’t put so much stock into the showcase. Never been to one where I was impressed at our talent

I need help with this one. The last contract extension I found has him here until June 30, 2021. But, I think I remember that it was extended again last year. IIRC, it was extended for another two years (to June 30, 2023), but I am not sure of this last extension. Anyone?

I believe the 20-21 season is his last. I wish someone in Athletics would once and for all answer this question

I just have this feeling that Coach Montgomery is going nowhere. He seems to have weathered a lot, and as long as Frazier as here, I just cannot seem him parting ways with Monty. I think the only way Monty leaves with Frazier as AD is if NIU did have a surprising year and he ends up getting plucked away like Carey. Outside of that, I think we should get used to Monty for the rest of STF tenure.

Right now the 20-21 season is his last. That is a fact.

I think you are absolutely right with the extension. When you add NIU's relatively deep MAC tourney run last season with a downgraded MAC this season, I think it will give perhaps a false appearance that NIU hoops is in good health after this season. The 2020-21 campaign should be an interesting one with no German.

7, what’s a good year? Is finishing 17-17 overall and 8-10 in the MAC and winning a home MAC tourney game and winning one game in Cleveland a good year? What in your opinion warrants a extension for a post German team

I think the stars have aligned nicely for Monty to get that extension. Still having German in a watered down MAC could make even a top 4 seed attainable. A good year this year wont mean much for the long term which is the frustrating part of it

Like the others said Woods is back and maybe a half step slower but Erin Hodges is out for the year and you guessed it...ACL injury. She was very athletic and will be missed. The girls will be ok but I’m hoping for that breakout season and we’ll see if Coach C can deliver in her 5 th season.

The off-season the strength and conditioning program was looked at to provide more strength and stability to the legs. Sucks for the kids and for the team.

This is Monty's 9th year at NIU. What has he done of any significance in the past 8 years? Kept the Huskies out of the cellar? Had his picture posted in the Wikipedia definition of mediocrity? It is past the time to part ways. A contract extension is untenable, but it would not surprise me one bit. I even expect it.

--- 105-210 overall
--- two conference tournament appearances (2018 lost in first round, 2019 lost in semis)
--- lost in Vegas 16 quarterfinals in 2015-16

But NIU beat ranked Buffalo at home last season and fans rushed the court! Whoopee.
