And you predicted a loss. Go figure.

Yep. For the players, I hope they can put together a win...but in the event the Owls lose, Bloom's future needs to be given a close look. Last year he successfully handed UTEP their first win after a 22 game losing streak.

Congrats to Bloom's cast offs-
Abercrumbia- SMU 6-0 Bowl Eligible
Tyner- TT 3-3 3 wins away from bowl (plays Iowa St tomorrow)
Justin Bikham- Iowa St. 4-2 2 wins away from bowl (plays TT tomorrow)
Rowe Wilkins- ASU 5-1 1 win away from bow eligible

Congrats to these guys on getting Rice degrees and finding some joy in the game of football again this season.

Only one of those was a “castoff.” He’s 1-8 passing for 2 yards and has 1 rush for 6 yards on the season. Not sure how heavily his 8 total yards have factored into those 3 TT wins, but whatever fits your narrative dude.

Haters going to hate of course when your teams sucks. For the record they left... because of Bloom's request or because of Bloom's actions that is a fact and you all can dispute it all you want. They are all 4 too classy to ever have anything to say negative about the program. As for my narrative you jackwagon...1-8 and 6 yards rushing nothing to brag about. I'll say this for Tyner. He put up with a ton of BS with the horrific offensive minded coaches at Rice to hold his head high and be asked to come to Tech and win the backup job. Hate on the kid all you jerks want but i would love to see the list of college athletes that have started at 2 different D1 programs at QB and pitched for a D1 possibly two D1 successful baseball programs. His stats aren't the best but obviously there is some athletic ability there that oh I don't know maybe 3 D1(hate to admit Bloom is a D1 HC) head football coaches saw and two and possibly 3 D1 baseball coaches saw. Like always the majority of this board can't let a positive be a positive. Sure I put a negative backhanded comment on the positive thing I was trying to say so let me do it again and maybe if anyone on here gives a rats ass about the graduates and players of the university we won't see any negative replies.

Congratulations on former Rice Owls this season. Abercrumbia, Wilkins, Tyner, and Bikham are having great success with their teams this season. All four have a chance to end their careers in bowl games.

"Like always the majority of this board can't let a positive be a positive."

Actually we can. I dont think anyone at all until this point has made a single negative comment about about Tyner. And I would assume that most of us knew those stats that were quoted before that poster made them them an issue.

Cut the absolute hogwash about 'like always the majority of this board cant let a positive be a positive'.

My viewpoint is that there are absolutely some here who probably wont let a 'positive be a positive', but I dont think that my viewpoint on that subject and yours would coincide much.

Maybe if you cut the persistent and continuous passive/aggressive attitude the very obvious retort that 2019 put forward wouldnt be an issue in the first place.

And before I become a negative nellie in your your worldview, I hope each of of the four players mentioned has as good an athletic career as they can, in whatever circumstances. And, I hope they are absolutely smashing successful in whatever the pursue.

Quote: Sure I put a negative backhanded comment

As you always seemingly do, sir. Just saying. I dont think 2019 was attacking Tyner per se, he is just kind of sick of your persistent and continuous snide and passive/aggressive comments. I am sure you have a subjective good reason for them. But they get really tiresome. Again, just saying.

Indeed I do. Got to see first hand how the program took an enormous crap on its players for 4 years under two different head coaches. Always wanted to support the program in its efforts to be meaningful but now yearn to see the train wreck as it eats itself from the inside. The only answer to fix the football program is to tear down the upper decks and drop down and join the Conference with SFA, SHSU and company. But to be a smart ass after reading the crap from not all but most of the posters here gives me a little pleasure to say the least.

If you 'yearn to see the train wreck as it eats itself from the inside' and post to this board just to do that on a continuous basis doesnt say too much about you personally, in my opinion. Not even touching on the 'gives [you] a little pleasure to say the least' comment in the slightest, mind you.

At least thank you for the honest self-assessment of being toxic and passive/aggressive at this point.

Isn't that a quote from Benedict Arnold?

I have been watching the program since 1963. Seen enough train wreck. Don't want to see more.

It is kind of warped for someone to dislike a program so much to keep hanging around and gloat/badmouth after any real ties are cut.

Kind of evocative of the psyche of those guys that, when they are dumped by a chick, decide to hang around the old 'couples' bar incessantly simply to badmouth.

UTSA 17, Rice 13

I'm hoping that this will be a reverse jinx so that we can get our first win.

21-17 Rice, as the offense leaves points on the field, but the defense makes enough big plays.

Alternate: 34-10 Rice, as the offense has a coming out party of sorts and defense dominates. True freshman QB has an impact.

The MOB opted to make this our road trip this season.
When we asked how much time we'd have at half time, we discovered that it's their homecoming game (how many times per season is Rice the homecoming date?), and we will not be performing.
Got used to that with UT, but this is new.

A shame that.
Early show ideas included a salute to their 50th anniversary with a Roman numeral for 50, and whatever else it might signify.

We'll still be there to encourage the Owls, and watch the first win of the season.

-The new logo for the Big Twelve Conference after Texas and Oklahoma leave and they backfill with the entire AAC, CUSA, MWC, Arkansas State, Appalachian State, and whichever between BYU and UConn can win a bidding war for the last spot to be the least high-maintenance.
* the conference name will remain the same, and will also refer to the division of 8 schools remaining from the previous incarnation who will play a round robin in order to face the winner of the “Bigger Twelve” division of the 42 newly added teams, whose champion is to be determined primarily by CFP committee ranking.
The team whose band performs the most humorous* halftime show will then be moved up by three places in the ranking.

*-most humorous, also as determined by the CFP committee.

This game prediction is problematic for me.. Everyone says it's a must-win for us..which REALLY makes me nervous. And yet..we are really due for a break-out game.
Sigh

Rice wins 24-17

I’m confused...are these things (homecoming dates for opponents, time they will allot the MOB at halftime) not discussed between both parties prior to the season?

Umm... no.
No one bothers to talk to the band.
