2019-20 WAC Hoops Media Day
2019-20 WAC Hoops Media Day
Surprisingly quiet around here for all the happenings of WAC Media Day yesterday. Any thoughts on the interviews or pre-season team rankings or All-Conference selections?
I mentioned it over on the GCU board, but was really impressed by the Donlon interview. Love the way he carries himself. It's easy to imagine him leading the Roos to success in the near future.

That's good news for the WAC. Jans is an excellent coach. Of course, a new contract doesn't mean he will stay all four years but it does mean it is more likely he will. Any idea on how much the contract was for?

His retention bonus increases every year. Sun news should have an article in the next day or to with more details.

With his retention bonus he is about to be paid next month and his base salary, it will put him a little over $500,000 for this year. He could make over $600,000 with bonuses.

Jans did not get a new 4 year contract. He had one additional year added to his contract bringing it to 4 years. The bonus was also announced in March, so there is no "new" money with this extension. It all just became official this week. The only thing new was the additional year. In any case, I'm tickled pink...

When the H..E...double L is Chicago State going to put out an official 2019-20 basketball roster on its Athletic website? We are now just two weeks away from the start of the basketball season and no one knows who is on Irvin's roster. The Verbal Commits website, at the moment, is the most current roster we have for Chicago State. I would have thought an official Cougar roster would have come out prior to the WAC Media Day.
Also, why is UT Rio Grande Valley's men's basketball Twitter site suspended (for violating twitter rules)?

No one knows or no one cares?
I’m more intrigued that there has not been an official announcement from the WAC about Tarleton State

There are still things the WAC and TSU have to work out.

Yikes. No clue, but the UTRGV PD did have an odd announcement today that they were aware of a social media posting relating to a potential crime (rape) and that they were on it, presumably so that everyone could stop calling it in.
However, it did not mention MBB and there might not be any connection. I sure hope there is no conection.

Policing by social media seems like an odd approach in general & hope all the best for impacted parties. Any connection to mbb would be troubling. The WAC already has one basketball program dealing with sexual assault charges this week (UVU). A second wouldn't be a good look at all.
