According to The Los Angeles Times, the migrants consisted of a deaf woman from El Salvador and her three relatives, along with eight gay and lesbian asylum seekers from Cuba, Guatemala, and Honduras.

The stunt by Castro, who previously served as the mayor of San Antonio and secretary of Housing and Urban Development under the Obama administration, was executed to illustrate his opposition to a policy barring migrants who seek alysum from staying in the United States before their court dates, dubbed the “Remain in Mexico” policy.

“This Remain in Mexico program is a complete disaster,” Castro said, according to the LA Times. “People should not be living like this.”

“This president has helped create a humanitarian crisis,” the Democrat added. “People are living in squalor.”

The migrants accompanied by Castro said they have suffered harassment and harm while waiting in Mexico.

A lesbian woman who only wanted to be known publicly by her first name, Melisa, 27, told the LA Times that “she was hit in the face by a stranger as she stood talking to friends outside a nearby pharmacy.”

Mari, a 24-year-old lesbian, said she and her partner Dany have been called names at the migrant camp. “The same people who are living with us discriminate against us,” she said.

Border Patrol responded to the display by following the law, returning the migrants Castro used as props back to Mexico by 5 p.m. local time.

As highlighted by the LA Times, Castro isn’t the first Democrat to protest immigration law at the border: “In late June, former U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas met with migrants returned to Mexico at a shelter in Juarez. Days later, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker accompanied five pregnant women in the Remain in Mexico program across the bridge from Juarez to El Paso.”

In the packed field of Democratic presidential candidates, Castro stood out for a bizarre remark during a June primary debate. “Let’s also not forget someone in the trans community, a trans female, is poor, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have the right to exercise that right to choose,” the former HUD secretary stated in reference to the “right” to abortion.

Of course, biological men, or transgender females, cannot have children. So it’s unclear why they would need abortion “rights.”

In August, the Democrat also took heat for defending his brother Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) for doxxing Trump supporters.

As noted by The Daily Wire, Joaquin not only revealed the names of Trump donors, but linked them to racist hatred.

“Sad to see so many San Antonians as 2019 maximum donors to Donald Trump — the owner of [redacted], owner of the [redacted], realtor [redacted], etc. Their contributions are fueling a campaign of hate that labels Hispanic immigrants as ‘invaders,’” he posted to Twitter.

When asked by a reporter if his brother’s targeting of Trump supporters was an “act of intimidation,” Castro defended Joaquin’s actions: “My brother put out a list of names of people who had maxed out to the Trump campaign. That is public information. That information is put out all the time, and for anybody to pretend or suggest that it’s not, that’s just untrue,” he said.

“Let me also be clear: He did not put down anybody’s private information; he did not put down their addresses; he did not put down their phone numbers,” Castro continued, adding: “What he did is not doxxing; anybody who understands what doxxing is knows that that’s what — he did not do that, all right? What he did was he put forward publicly available information that was already out there.”

I wouldn't stress it. It's only the left that seeks to categorize and limit you based on identity politics. The rest of us understand you have a mind of your own and are able to fully function outside of being told how you must function based on melatonin.

Smells of desperation from a candidate whose remaining lifespan is measured in weeks.
