I agree. That said, say what you will about Trump, this is exactly what he said he wanted to do when he ran for president. its kind of refreshing to see a president who actually follows through with what he claimed he'd do on the campaign trail. The funny thing is, I actually agree with the general policy---I just think the Kurds (and Israeli's) should be the two middle east exceptions. The Kurds were one of the few peoples (other than the Brits) that were willing to do the heavy lifting when we needed them. I think they earned our support now.

We need to get out of the Middle East. But this is probably not the right way to do it. The Kurds are the one group that has supported us.

Haven't they always been for war. I can't think of one president that was a Demoncrap that didn't start a war sometime in our history. You can't even say that Abe started the Civil War because what preceded the start of that war was when the South bombarded Fort Sumnter and Lincoln had to retaliate afterwards. The Southerners before breaking off from the US were mostly Democrats. The Northern Democrats and the Southern Democrats had different views on slavery and thus split. After the war they united again but still they had the same Jim Crow views.

The only war started by a Republican was the Grenada War and Reagan was president.

I can't tell if this is a joke or not.

"...In Ankara, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said Turkey was intent on combatting Syrian Kurdish fighters across its border in Syria and on creating a zone that would allow Turkey to resettle Syrian refugees there.

“Where Turkey’s security is concerned, we determine our own path but we set our own limits,” Oktay said...."

"...Turkey, which considers Kurdish fighters in Syria terrorists and links them to a decades-old insurgency in Turkey, has already launched two major incursions into northern Syria over the past years. The first was in 2016, when Turkey and Syrian opposition fighters it backs attacked areas held by the Islamic State group west of the Euphrates River. Last year Turkey launched an attack on the Syrian Kurdish enclave of Afrin, leading to the displacement of some 300,000 people...."

Well we really haven't seen any radical Islamic terrorist attacks lately... not even in Europe. Have to think whatever Trump is doing over there is working.

Yes. But are we going to put our troops in the way if Turkey wants to destabilize northern Syria?

I agree. I fear this destabilizing gives cloud cover for more attacks again. Hope I'm wrong.

I second this.

Give them all the arms and supplies they need but get our service members out of the middle east.

JD obviously sees those bodies as expendable, well... because they're not him.

'they think they matter'... they do not!

what matters is line 1b) vs. line 1c)

And this is the one place we are actually in illegally. We aren't fighting the Syrian government. And they have asked us to get out. Iraq and Afghanistan don't want us to leave yet. We're in a Civil War without a side we really want to win. There was one we wanted to lose and that has been done.

What are we supposed to do for the Kurds? What is the exit strategy? I don't see one.
