Can Clark win without a team full of 25 year olds or the easiest schedule in coach football? Plus his offense sucks and you need a great offense in the sec west to compete
I realize you posted this 2 weeks ago, but I don't know what else the dude has to do. He's 33-17 (66%) overall at UAB even though when he got here we had no facilities and played in a total dump of a field.
The previous year before he got here our defense gave up 44 points a game under McGee. The WORST team in Southern Miss history put 62 points on us in Legion Field that year.
He shows up and the next year we go 6-6 against a very difficult schedule.
In nearly unprecedented fashion, the football program is dropped and he has the balls to stay and rebuild the program. Now we have an IPF, a football foundation filled with Birmingham business leaders, and a brand new stadium in 2021. He rebuilt the program.
2017: 8-5
2018: 11-3
2019: Now 8-3 in a huge rebuilding year with one of the least experienced teams in the nation and it is looking like we have a good shot at getting into another CUSA championship game.
Clark's biggest miscue (in my opinion) is that he needs to hire his assistants based on results and less based on friendships. As soon as he is able to put together a complete season where he beats 1 or 2 P5 programs I imagine he is hired away after that year.
With that said, I have no idea why he would go to Arkansas.
edit: and our schedule gets mocked because it is of course weak, but we would also be 8-3 with La. Tech's schedule. Probably 7-4 with USM's schedule. 7-4 to 8-3 with FAU's schedule. No one in this conference near the top exactly has some highly difficult schedule. 1-2 body bag games + 1-2 games versus decent teams. The difference in schedules are literally just playing a bad 3-4 win team instead of a 0-1 team like South Alabama/Akron. It's simply not that much of a difference.
