Thanks MD. I didn't get to watch the game, but listened and checked scores on phone. Bowers and the offense really look good. I know you only highlighted the good plays, but there were enough of them to see how good he is. Would have been nice if that targeting call didn't reverse the fumble, but NIU played tough.

Better team one, at least more talent. I think NIU played as well as could be expected in the 1st 1/2. Not getting td before half was huge. As they ran off 14 pts quick to start 2nd 1/2 after deferring.
As everyone has said, need to do better on 3rd down and limit penalties, albeit targeting was week. It was bang bang but will never be overturned. It looked like his helmet /mask hit the defenders back.
Bowers is a passer. And while not the most agile or fastest, knows when he can, should run and what he can get away with .
Lack of running plays didn’t worry me. That was a good def. We did a nice job passing, getting what we could and were given . That will, should change in conf.
Need to go...doors closing on plane, finally leaving SLC!

The best way to avoid the targeting penalty is to keep your head up when making a tackle. That way even if the runner ducks his head last minute, you shouldn't be called for targeting.

When you’re diving below someone’s knees it almost impossible to pick your head up enough. The neck just doesn’t bend like that. Especially if the WRs head is above yours coming downward. Maybe he could move it to the side, but the wr could still bang it with his helmet.
