Rod Carey and Uremovich had balls of steel in the MAC championship. Just didn't have an offensive gamebreaker to jailbreak a defense like Utah's.

"should be"? I don't want to get accused of being too negative, but on paper I think the word "should" needs to be replaced with "hope". On paper, it should not be competitive, lets hope.

I was pretty much dismissive of Illinois State also, but I have to concede it does appear they have a team more than capable of beating NIU in the opener. Illinois State coming to NIU appears to be statistically the same as WMU coming to Dekalb this season.

To give everyone an idea about what Vegas might think about NIU's SEASON OPENER against Utah, Utah opened as a 6.5 favorite on the road against BYU, but the line has dropped to 6 at some places.
Considering all three teams played each other last year in competitive games, I think it's a good barometer as to what the NIU vs Utah line may look like.
I expect something similar to the BYU line but with Utah being at home, and depending on how tha Utah/BYU game goes, I expect NIU to be 6.5 - 7.5pt underdogs.

I am interested to see what the spread will be vs ISU. I’m drinking the Hammock Kool Aid and may be all over that one.

I think it open more in the 16 to 19 range. Huskies will be expected to do next to nothing offensively in that game and it will be hard to hold the Utes under 20. It could be even be a 20 point spread
