From personal experience, this is absolutely true.
I've seen PSU play in every B1G stadium except Maryland (which I'm hitting Friday) and Rutgers. Many of those games have been in the post-Sandusky era. Iowa was the most unwelcoming bunch even before 2011, and in my 1 visit since (2017), they were absolutely vicious with the Sandusky stuff. The fans of other schools typically don't mention Sandusky AT ALL.

If your seats aren't in the visitors section or you're not in a large group, I'd implore wearing neutral clothing. Someone dumped a beverage on my head and I wasn't even talking or cheering, just walking concourse with a red NIU jersey (good thing it was 90 degrees). They love to verbally harass too - just don't engage.

Yes, I spend a lot of time on Iowa message boards and agree that many of them can't let the Sandusky stuff go. They are still outraged that PSU was let off easy and are convinced that PSU fans are a bunch of mindless zombies who have never owned up to what Sandusky did.
Every year Iowa plays PSU they bring it up on the Iowa message boards. Refer to PSU as Pedo St, etc. It does not surprise me that Iowa fans are saying that to you in person too. Unfortunately some fans are going to give PSU fans a hard time for as long as they live.

I believe that's how Iowa and Iowa St administrators wanted to originally play this, issuing a joint statement that both sides have acted like jerks throughout the years and both sides need to do better. But that did not go over well with the Iowa band, who threw a fit and started insisting on social media that they were seriously mistreated at the ISU game. That's when the Iowa administrators decided they did not take the Iowa bands claims serious enough. Kind of like the posters on this board are not taking the claims of the Iowa band serious.

Friends of mine who are South Carolina fans pretty much said the same thing after they played Iowa in the Outback Bowl. Put them up there with Georgia fans, and that's bad.

Maryland is just happy their football team is better than mediocre now. I was their last year and everyone was friendly. Rutgers you'll stand out from all of the empty seats.

Probably because it appears the Band started the ruckus and therefore their complaints seem hollow to posters on this board. However, college administrators don't dare ignore any complaint by the students.

Thank you for acknowledging that the band members complaints should be taken seriously and investigated by the adminstrators.
There seem to be multiple versions out there what happened. Here is another version I have read.
the Iowa band was not given any information when it came to exiting the stadium and while waiting for the crowds to clear were yelled at by an ISU official to get out of the stadium so they went to the exit that was the closest to where their buses were parked which turned out to be the wrong exit.
Also it should be noted Iowa band members have insisted that attacks included verbal and physical abuse during the game.

How could there have been "physical abuse" during the game?
In English, this means that ISU fans went into the Iowa band's seats and hit Iowa band members. While the game was going on. Where's the security report about this? If there's no security report, and no photos of extra security around the band, then clearly the Iowa band members and band director did not think it was serious enough to merit any action.

Not what I said. I said the administrators don't dare ignore complaints by the students. That does not mean they believe them. On college campuses we now have the inmates running the asylum, so administrators have to treat the students with kid gloves
Like I said, people can say anything, you can read any version. You seem to be the only one on this board taking the Iowa band students side, which is understandable since you are an Iowa fan. I do not have a dog in this fight and you do. So I will leave it at that.
Have a nice day.

RE: Iowa-Iowa State game in jeopardy
I want to chime in on this if I may.
First of all, the state of Iowa needs this game. So the higher ups at Iowa need to zip it.
Second, this game with the weather issues was just totally unique from the get go.
Third, it's all he said she said at this point so does anybody know if the band was truly told to exit a certain area? Or that band members were truly injured or harrassed? I mean with all the delays did logistics change?
Fourth, you fools on here talking down another's fanbase are probably always the ones in society claiming you're the victim. Every single damn fanbase has d**ks among them.
Penn State fan, give it a rest buddy. See Ohio State not sending the band to State College one year due to being splattered by piss a previous year.
I'm not being hypocritical, I'll tell you straight up that Ohio State has some real idiots for fans. No matter who you are, you do too!
Keep Iowa-Iowa State! I have a feeling folks running that State will put a stop to that crazy talk real soon.
ANF!!!
