If they are a 10/10, why did they have more penalties for more penalty yards than Memphis?

While I understand your intention... it's hard to say you're good, but they are great and not take that as an insult to the team. Anytime you say someone is clearly better and we should be like them, especially a team we beat, it's hard not to see the compliment intended... at the expense of out team.

And you do realize they are taught discipline pretty much 24/7, right?!! That's every aspect of their lives, including on the football field.

I am really perplexed by this thread. I feel like our players played with excellent effort for the entire game. And like a team different players/units carried the team when needed. I would give our players a 10/10. Really an 8/10 after a nearly perfect 2nd half or after watching us beat Ole Miss to open the season. What a freaking joke.

And they broke down in several ways in the second half. In many ways we did not.

I think most read the OP as inferring the Navy kids played with more effort and the only reason Memphis won was due to having better athletes/players

What we also saw was singling out Sean Dykes

And almost to a man other posters disagreed and found that Memphis played as disciplined as Navy in the game, acknowledging that historically Navy has been fairly solid in that aspect and that the life mission all of their kids have committed to teaches that even more

But that has nothing to do with our kids or that game

Some fairly modest disagreements were met with labeling them as negative (because advocating that our kids played hard is negative?) or labeling them as being dumber than hammers

Just maybe, on this one, your take was off. But more importantly, if it wasn’t (and I think it was) your odd refusal to allow for other opinions seems off

What you did post was that our work ethic in the game was not as good as Navy, even if it was generally good

Then what you did do was single out Dykes

What I did was posit that I disagree and that I did not see Navy having a better in game work ethic in our game.

Then what I did, and try to get this, iin an effort to point out how similar the kids were in the work ethic vein, pointed out OTHER areas where the kids are similar

In other words, one aspect of in game discipline is avoiding the taunting and the preening. And the Navy kids, just like all other kids, did that. And that is an example of not having this mythical work ethic. Were you at the game? Because a lot of that stuff happens off camera
