and it's not an insult to ANY of our players, but an incredible complement to Navy.

I wish our players, mostly the non-skilled players, but also our WRs when they are not actually receiving the ball, had the same work ethic "in-game". I'm not talking about practice. I'm talking about during the game. Our work ethic is GOOD. Navy's is GREAT. I could only imagine how good this team could be if we showed that attention to detail and hustle and swarming to the ball on every play.
I just logged on.

And I disagree with this.

Overall we had a poor first quarter and a half.

But the idea that Navy kids worked harder on the field is wrong from what it looked like live. Their kids taunt and crowd shush and pretty much all the same that any kids do.

OFF the field their kids have an edge due to what lies ahead.

None of that in bold has anything to do with what I'm saying.

An example of what I'm talking about is a screen pass to a WR (I think in the Southern game?) to the left that got blown up because the TE Dykes in front of him was lackadaisical with his block. Like he didn't really think the RPO was gonna develop over to his side, so why waste the energy. A Navy guy would have blocked until the whistle blew.

Memphis work ethic - 8/10
Navy work ethic - 10/10
Point is if you caught Dykes with a lack of effort as you saw it on a play but you did not see Navy kids with similar lacks of efforts at times you simply missed it

They are just like other kids in football

They taunt, they shush AND they take some plays off too
Navy took the lead with excellent deception: counters, play action, and defensive line shifts that confused our blockers.

By the second half, these deceptions were exposed, and we were taking them apart.

Navy’s coach admitted they played as well as they could.

Memphis crushed Navy in the second half.
I think Navy should be quite disappointed in themselves for that second half performance, to be quite honest.

I've seen much better and much more disciplined Navy teams.

I think the injury to their QB was a key to their offense not controlling the game in the second half.
Well, the difference is (as has been pointed out all over sports talk radio today), we have the superior athletes. We were able to out speed and out talent them. What I am talking about in THIS thread is individual dedication to the job. That, and gametime IQ. For instance, there was a 3rd and 2 from about the 10 yard line for them. It was a good chance to force a field goal. Malcolm Perry swept to the left, running toward the sideline about 2 yards deep in the backfield, and there our linebackers were... crabbing with him, WAITING ON HIM, 10 yards apart, TWO YARDS BEYOND THE FIRST DOWN MARKER!!!!!

Now, I know what you are thinking. They can't risk going for the tackle because he is so slippery, if they miss, he will take it in the endzone. And what I'm saying is, if they KNEW that the remainder of their team were doing their job correctly, that they (the ones not engaged with a receiver threat) were in balls-out pursuit of the ball, they could go ahead and move in on Perry behind the line for a TFL, because if they missed, the cavalry was on the way.

Navy may be the most disciplined team we face all year. You cant successfully run that triple option without being extremely disciplined and running 4 plays the same way every single time.

Agree.
So it was strange to see them committing face mask/horse collar and late hit infractions.
is no. 6 Kayode Oladele hurt

he has not played this year

another is Ja'Len Sims, would like to see what he can do
As exasperating as it is playing these option teams, we seemed to adjust pretty well in the second half.

When the Nebraskas and Oklahomas were crushing teams with wishbones in the 1970s and early 1980s, eventually the Miamis and Florida States athleticism caught up with that André those programs had to adjust

I don’t see Navy adjusting. Also don’t see Navy or Army getting the overall level of elite athletes that other AAC programs get, let alone the SEC, so their prospects will always be limited. They will have solid years but not likely dominant

With that, I would still like Army as the football replacement for UConn

Adding another traditional historic school, the prestige of a military academy, the Army Navy game being a conference game, and competitive if not elite teams
We won the game against a good team, with a hard to defend offense, by 2 touchdowns, after trailing 20-7.

Please explain to me again why we are picking apart our own team?

I tend to agree.

In prior years, a poor first half against a disciplined Navy team meant certain defeat...seems to be something different about this year's Tiger team and coaching staff.

This thread was meant to complement the Navy team, and in NO WAY is an insult to ours. I was just dreaming of combining the best attributes of both.

It’s not that subtle. We finally have an above-average defense after 4-5 years of having a bad defense.

Bull! A compliment talks about one side. You ripped our players.

Fans at the game boo our own players.

Have we become spoiled so quickly? Have we forgotten just a few short years ago how bad we were?

Whatever your intentions may have been you badly missed.
My overall takeaway was that these coaches can make good halftime adjustments.

Just need to find a way to keep them around for a lot of years..

Not for me they are trained to kill with a pencil and tread water for a whole hour. They use what they have to to win.Why do you think we have the best armed forces in the world.
