I agree with JMUDunk - - AOC is a much more effective asset for the right than is MW.

We all have crazy people in our extended circle of family and friends, and Ms. Williamson comes across as a well-meaning curiosity. AOC, on the other hand, is a jaw-dropping caricature of the utter stupidity of the left. I honestly sometimes wonder whether she was created by some evil conservative genius.

From the perspective of the left, MW helps the right because she doesn't follow the left. 'You're either with us or against us'. It's like the "I'm a Republican and I'm against guns' or whatever the recent thread was, with the major difference being that we know who this person is and they really are a Democrat, and not even a DINO. The right is 'using' her by making people aware of the hard left turn by the left rather than letting them continue to try and convince everyone that the whole left has actually joined them

I’ve highlighted the phrase which I believe is at the core of the issue here. You say that MW “doesn’t follow the left.” I’m honestly fascinated by that because — through friends and family — I’ve known about MW for about 15 years. And it seems to me that Marianne Williamson *does* follow the Left and in fact personifies the Left in many ways.

What’s happened here is simply that she blurted our a personal observation about the people she has encountered on this campaign. That observation is not politically helpful to her, but nonetheless rings true. That happens so rarely in our media today that when it does, people tend to pay attention.

She's clearly a Democrat, but she's not the new 'Justice Democrat' like AOC or Socialist like Bernie. She's (as I know her, which is much less than you I'm sure) a traditional Democrat... like Pelosi and Biden. The party IMO has moved way left and left her and others out in the cold. They don't support Republican ideals, but they also don't support the TACTICS (at least) of what can only be described as the fascist left... conscious of the fact that politics is a circle, not a line.

Well again, I don't know her... but I'm not sure the above 3 are GENERALLY to the left of people like AOC and Beto. One issue or another they may align, but not in lock step.

At any rate, the above is really a minor part of the position I took. It's about the lack of civility from the 'new' left. The right doesn't respect her views, but they let her have them. The new left doesn't even let her agree with them, if she won't be insanely vindictive about attacking those who disagree.

I don’t think she’s to the left of people like AOC and Beto, either. But I do think she’s to the left of people like Biden — at least, the Biden of the pre-Obama era. I disagree that she is a “traditional Democrat” like him and like Mondale/Dukakis/Kerry/ Clinton/Gore/etc.

That’s fair, as far as it goes. It still does not, IMHO, trace back to the original point — and I want to stop for a moment and acknowledge that it was a point made by somebody else, not you — that “the right” is “using” Marianne Williamson to attack “the left”, or is just “being nice” because reasons.

The simple truth is that Marianne Williamson has been on the Far Left of America’s political spectrum for at least 30 years, and still is now. But the experience of participating in this campaign has revealed to her an ugly side of left wing activism that she was oblivious to before.

I would choose her over Biden, or for that matter any other democrat, primarily because she is too loony to get anything actually done. Kind of like Obama turned out to be not nearly as bad as I feared, because he was too big an egomaniacal, narcissistic a-hole, and had never actually done anything, so he couldn't work with people, and that spared us having his agenda implemented.

I am pretty sure I will vote 3rd party because I can't really vote for Donald Trump, nor can I possibly vote for any democrat in the current presidential field. I am not optimistic about our future leadership, not from either major party.

Again, I think you're talking about 'political positions', and I'm talking more about tactics.

The current left isn't just way left, but they're abusive towards people, even many who agree with them on policies, but disagree that it's okay to scream in people's faces who disagree with you, or call them Nazis, or stalk them at restaurants or spit in their food.

The only point about policies I'm making is that the left and right often disagree philosophically with little middle ground... but the issue is a willingness to let the other beliefs 'exist'.
