Post Week 3 Race for the NY6
1. UCF
2. Temple
3. Boise State
4. Memphis
No point in putting anyone else on the board at this juncture.
Next week has a bunch of games that will eliminate some or get them on here.

Yup and I’d eliminate UAB b/c the schedule just ain’t there, App has a shot but no board for them until/if they beat UNC.
SMU and Navy have to beat TCU and Memphis respectively in their next games to get on the board.
Air Force I’ll put on if they beat Boise on Friday. Wyoming and SDSU I don’t see.

I think anyone with 1-loss is still in it, because I'm not convinced there will be a G5 team that goes undefeated. Plus, the winner must be a Conference Champion.

the MAC especially is just about done... They have 4 1 loss teams. They have maybe a 0.01% chance right now.....

I didn't know who has a shot for the G5 BCS Bowl was decided Week 3......
How are you getting that percent........?
I get it most likely will be a MW or AAC team, but to eliminate all but 5 teams on Week 3 is silly....

when your conference after week 3 has only 4 teams left with only 1 loss, you are pretty much totally finished... SOS includes all conference games- so the fact that the MAC is 3-20 OOC vs FBS opponents is pretty much devastating.
in fact, it's why the AAC and MWC have totally separated-
AAC 12-10 vs FBS
MWC 10-11 vs FBS
SBC 5-14 vs FBS
CUSA 6-19 vs FBS
MAC 3-20 vs FBS
those numbers matter. Right now, it's very likely that even if some MAC team got to 12-1, a 2 loss team from AAC or MWC would be ahead of the MAC team- and it wouldn't be controversial at all whatsoever..

RE: Post Week 3 Race for the NY6
The AAC and MWC champs are going to be neck and neck for the NY6 bowl. If only one is undefeated, they’ll get the nod. If they both are or they both have 1 loss it will interesting to see what they decide. The MWC has been more impressive OOC.

The winner has to be a conference champion. If a 0-loss or 1-loss AAC or MW team loses to a 3 or 3+loss team in the conference championship game, they are out. Period.
A 12-1 MAC, SB, or CUSA team that's a conference champion would be ranked higher then a 3-loss AAC/MW team.
That's also why you can't eliminate any 3-loss MW or AAC team until the Conference Champion Game: because a MAC/SB/CUSA team is unlikely to go 12-1, so they can still knock off a 1-loss or 0-loss team in the Championship game to get the bid.

There is absolutely no guarantee to your final statement- at all. Remember a few years ago, if Navy had beaten Temple, they had a very real shot at making the G5 slot- even with 2 more losses....
Also, you are counting on the division champion that beats the 0-1 loss team to have 3 losses. That's a huge question mark.
Like it or not, the MAC is fighting clearly uphill.

I'm not sure a 3 point win over MD and blowout of a Patriot League team is enough for me to buy that Temple should be #2

You seem to look at this from an AAC perspective. Bottom line is, UCF is ranked #15, and Boise is #20. As no other G5 teams are ranked, they are clearly the top two right now, and in that order.

I am fighting for the 2 and 3 loss AAC and MW teams as well. I am saying you can't rule out ANYONE until teams start getting 2 losses. When I click this thread and see a list of G5 teams that have a shot (including Temple team that finished 8-5 last year) and there's only 4 listed, that's pretty silly....

sorry but for the MAC, CUSA, and SBC- you absolutely can say if they have 2 losses for sure, and frankly even 1 loss that they are done.

Most likely, but not MW or AAC.
It all depends on the Conference Champion game. That is what you are not understanding.
Central Florida and Temple play in the same division, too.

Sagarin has Maryland at 30, FSU at 32. Boise also traveled across the country, switching venues to play FSU on the road. Temple got UMD at home. They also beat a solid Marshall team, ranked just 5 spots below Temple on Sagarin.
I'd also put Memphis as more likely than Temple, they have a nice win over Ole Miss and have the advantage of not being in UCF's division.

Agree to disagree. Temple has a better body of work and the CFP rankings aren’t based on the AP poll so I’m going with common sense.
An AP poll voter literally has Maryland #18 this week. It’s a joke.
