Dear ljmhurons,
The last two posts, including yours, just proves that Coach Creighton is in exclusive company. It's too bad that Eastern doesn't play a Big Ten team next year, for a try at four-in-a-row.

Bill cubit had 5 wins over P5 teams but only 2 against the Big Ten.

Illiinois, and Iowa with other p5 wins over Virginia, Uconn (big east at the time) and Uconn again (still big east).

PJ only had 2 wins vs the Big Ten before he bailed after failing to win the 3rd in in the cotton bowl.

CC has done some great things at EMU. I hope he sticks around.

Indeed, when the MAC is good. It is fun to watch. The MAC has had some great "MAC Attack Saturdays."

I believe one Saturday the MAC beat THREE P5 teams. Think it might have been 2001? 2003? (will look for details).

It's coming back to me. I think there was a triple header MAC attack wins. Sept 6, 2003.

The last (evening) game was N. IL over Alabama.

"Although the No. 21 Crimson Tide were two touchdown favorites over Northern Illinois, they were upset 19–16 in what was the first all-time win over a SEC team for the Huskies. "

BG beat Purdue during the day. One more.

Fun Fact: Illinois is one of 10 teams EMU has a winning record against.

DeBoer is the OC at Indiana. He makes around $800,000.

Which is a reason I raise Keen as a possibility if CC leaves.

I want to follow up on the Keen point. He went 24-2 in two seasons as the interim head coach of Minnesota State - Mankato (Div II) and coached Vikings WR Adam Thielen there. He also spent 5 seasons coaching div III Illinois College to a 23-27 record, which is less impressive. He's got head coaching experience and I wouldnt be surprised if he is a head coach again, at EMU or elsewhere.

BTW, this week (9/20/2003) was probably the greatest day in MAC FB history:

https://www.espn.com/college-football/sc...e/2/week/5

Wins over Kansas State, Pittsburgh, Alabama, and Colorado State. (The first 3 were nationally ranked).

Narrow loss to Ohio State.

RE: Monday Musings
Really not a surprise, us being picked dead last in the MAC west #6! Probably dead last in the MAC period! We've ONE player who actually played more then 10 minutes a game returning, and that's Toure! The other 2 seniors never played! We're like the multi state AAU team...….But, if there's a positive these 10 new players can read picked dead last, and that should definitely motivate them! I think N Illinois with Germain have a real shot to win it! He's a special MAC player, could average 25 points a night! Losing Micah Thomas really hurt us...….

Going to be a rough year for the whole conference. Not sure who will be good outside of BG and (probably) Buffalo. There is tons of talent to replace.

I agree with Glory Days in that this should serve as some motivation to these newcomers. We honestly have no idea how good this team is, but they should have a chip on their shoulder.
