RE: Laughable Scores - 2019 Football - Week 2
Marshall 7
#24 Boise 7 ... halftime.
Not laughable, actually predictable. After traveling to FSU last week and having to play again on 6 days, Boise must be an exhausted football team.
Not only did Boise travel 2,000 miles, they had to play a game in brutal 93 degree Tallahassee heat, that will sap a football team good. And, they had to play an FSU team that still has great athletes. If the game had been decided by whose players are bigger/stronger/faster, FSU would beat Boise 50-0. It is draining to battle against that kind of speed and size all game. Starters didn't get to rest, backups didn't get playing time.
In contrast, Marshall had a cake-walk game vs VMI, so is much fresher.

Laughable Scores - 2019 Football - Week 2
Rice folds when the poker got too high stakes.
WF we’ll put up 14
Rice - yeaaaah, we’ll see that 14
WF all in with another 27
Rice - um let’s see, we got 7 here in our pocket.
Final: Wake 41, Rice 21.

Let's bring out the excuses. C'mon. It is a good win for BSU, maybe, since Bachmeyer seems to have protection problems. Time will tell.

14-7 sounds more like it. I am sure it is a typo, but my point stands.

The final score was 14-7, but when I posted it was 7 - 7, at the half.
I think my point stands: Boise had to be a sapped team going in to this game. They traveled 2000 miles to play a very athletic FSU team in mid-90s weather, with added logistical issues because of the last-minute shift from Jacksonville. They then had to travel home and play again on 6 days rest.
Marshall, OTOH, had a cakewalk home game vs an overmatched FCS team, so they would likely be much fresher.

That could be, but I’m not convinced. I think Marshall is much improved but the only OOC left to test them is Cincy. No P5 school this year apparently.

I was very impressed with Marshall in the first half. They dominated that half, physically pushed Boise around, and were unlucky to be tied 7 - 7. They looked like they had the better athletes.
But in the second half Marshall got dominated, and were lucky the final score wasn't 24 - 7. Boise had numerous chances in Marshall territory and kept making mistakes. Marshall's run offense, which ran over Boise in the first half, was stuffed like a turkey in the second half.
So overall, while I like the look of Marshall's athletes, I am not sure how good they will be.

Maryland looks faster and more athletic, not surprised though SU, Pitt and BC have struggled to get top talent athletic guys for long time. I wish Syracuse had the athletes of FSU

just looking, if Maryland can get by Penn St on 9/27, they could easily be 8-0 heading into November. between now and then- @ Temple, Penn St, @ Rutgers, @ Purdue, Indiana, and @ Minnesota.
but their November is brutal- Michigan, @ Ohio St, Nebraska, and @ Michigan St.
