FIBA World Cup 2019
Anyone following this from China? US games have been around 7am. After easily beating Czech Republic fairly easily, USA should have lost today. Turkey missed clutch freethrows and let it slip away. Next up for US is Team Japan who could really use Kai Toews

Is the closing of your last sentence your justification for not starting this thread in the Off Topic forum? LOL

RE: FIBA World Cup 2019
I've been watching it quite a bit. USA got incredibly lucky to beat a solid Turkey team. TBH Turkey's meltdown was one of the worst I've seen in a long time. Missed 4 straight free throws up 1 with 15 seconds left in a game that would've avenged a finals loss 4 years ago... Ouch.

Brazil beating Greece and holding Giannis to only 13 points was also a surprise. Old man Varejao with 22 and 9! Gotta wonder why Lebron didn't give him a call when Boogie went down instead of Dwight.

Really like the continuity that these other countries play with. You can tell they've got a system and have been playing together for years. USA easily has the most talent top to bottom, but you could really tell yesterday that they lacked chemistry. Not just the players either, Pop had some questionable coaching decisions.

It would be great to see Kai playing, but honestly it's probably a good thing he doesn't have to defend Kemba Walker.

Tomorrow at 8:30 is US v Japan. See for yourselves if you think Toews would help them.

No doubt Toews could've help them, but as a UNCW fan I'm glad he's been on campus with his new teammates building chemistry.

Agree, and with the current state of our team in terms of disaster for us if any injuries occur... I'm perfectly fine with him being at school right now. I'd be able to swallow pill an injury a lot easier if it was in practice with us or team activities vice playing for team Japan and getting crushed by the USA team.

IMO, he'll have a lot of Team Japan and professional basketball in his future. For what that's worth.

He has his priorities in the right place. Not only being with his Seahawk team, but also in class. He'll have more opportunities with the Japan team.

After playing in the Jones Cup in Taiwan this summer he was invited to the National Team but chose to stay with his teammates to build chemistry. He would have been the youngest player on the team at the World Cup and Japanese fans are expecting him to be the starting PG for the team in next summer's Tokyo Olympics. He'll need a good year of improvement at UNCW to accomplish that.
