It was the only game week 1 that wasn't road P5 or home vs FCS. In my opinion it was a huge game. We need our middle/upper teams to be winning these kinds of games.

Yes, we struggle in bowl games, but seem to do at least .500 in the out-of-conference part of the schedule vs the rest of the G5.

Looks like Akron has the best chance of the early games.

Ohio's QB has been ill and Ohio doesn't look likely to fly the MAC Jolly Roger.

4th Quarter: UAB 31, Akron 20. Akron's K has missed an XP and a 35yd FG. Just seconds to go.

Overtime!: Kent 26, Kennesaw State 23. Kent muffed a punt, and Kennesaw cashed in soon after. Kent answers on a good drive, helped by a Kennesaw PI penalty. Kent with another turnover on a punt return, but Kennesaw giving it back on an interception. Kent hits a big pass play for the TD right after losing yards on a failed lateral. Kennesaw has a good drive going, but just had a TD called back due to holding. Kennesaw goes for it on 4th/8 around the Kent 40 but turns it over on downs. Kent 3 & out. Kennesaw sees another drive derailed by penalty then misses a 43yd FG. Kennesaw with a good TD Drive. A minute and change left for Kent. Good 2:00 drill by Kent to tie it up. Kennesaw fumbled its OT possession away, and Kent won it with a 43yd FG. Not good for my MAC pick-em, but good job Flashes!

Final: Pitt 20, Ohio 10. Sigh.

Final: Kansas St. 52, BUGS 0.

4th Quarter: Utah 35, NIU 17. Utah salting this one away.

Unfortunately we couldn't establish a run game. We played toe-to-toe the first half but we needed a run game to control the clock. Utah established their's in the 2nd half and grinded out the game and played stout D. Then there was a pretty terrible call by the Pac12 refs on a NIU fumble recovery when they called targeting on our safety. That gave Utah the ball in the redzone and ended any chance at a comeback.

Flashes walk off in OT. Happy Kent State won today, not a #FlytheFlag, but Kennesaw St. was #7 in FCS. Past Kent teams may not have won this kind of game.

Agree with your comments. #7 in FCS is a good team.

Sad to say, but I think EMU might be our only hope to #FlyTheFlag. WMU is a significant underdog and UB is a very significant underdog.

With all due respect to EMU (who I think will be a contender in the West) usually our Big Ten wins just kinda happen and we remember that the streak is a thing. We usually don't pin our hopes on a single game, albeit against a shaky Illinois program...

EMU down 17-0 to UK, though UB hanging in there with Penn State in the second.

Good MAC or good SEC? Rockets were in the game
until's Mitch's head injury from the targeting hit.
Since Eli Peters(starter for half of last season) was not available, Rockets had to go with the RFr Bradley.
That made a huge difference in the game, especially since UK couldn't handle Guadagni's ability to run with the FB.
