RE: Football practice upsates?
NIU website and Chronicle have daily stories. That's about it since practices are closed to the public now.

It's worth getting the subscription to the Daily Chronicle. Good article on Marshe Terry's role on D today. .99 for 1st month. Cancel anytime.

I have had a subscription to the Chronicle online for years. I read it daily because it keeps me up to date on the happenings in DeKalb/Sycamore, including NIU and the Huskies.

I don't really care about DeKalb/Sycamore anymore but I'd pay 60 bucks a year for NIU content access only.

I have to say as they keep reporting on the position by position breakdown on NIUhuskies.com...I am feeling good. Today was rb’s which is a very solid group. Really, other than the qbs (which could end up better than hoped) and DE (more with depth), we have a strong team

Yeah, the reports on the NIU site, and from HuskieWire are encouraging--and good reporting and writing from both sources. Like what I'm hearing about Harbison. Sounds like this could be a special year for him, and he sounds very motivated.

And I like Marcus, who should be a good contributor this year and after this year it seems that Valentine kid could step up to the quick man role

That's interesting because there are 3 RBs in front of him. If he gets playing time it means he really stood out.

NIU Football: Familiar feeling for Bowers in QB battle with Childers, Thompson
Quote:During practice, Bowers has showcased a steady pocket presence and a strength of throwing the ball down the middle of the field and between the hashes and on deep routes toward the sidelines.
Offensive coordinator Eric Eidsness said he has liked what he's seen from Bowers mentally.
“He’s picked stuff up a lot faster than they have, but he’s still learning every day," Eidsness said. "You learn in the summer, but when you start facing a real defense, not just 7 on 7, it’s different. You’ve got to handle protection checks, things like that. He’s played a lot of football. He knows how to play the game."
Happy times.

I know what you are getting at, with Harbs, Jones, and Nettles ahead of Valentine. But it seems like Coach has pointed him out on several occasions as standing out for an underclassman and there may be something to it. Plus I think Hammock is decent at evaluating RB talent
