I liked them because they brought a lot of fans to ECU. But if Monken's quote is not fake news, so be it. Move on. Army has gotten better over the last few years but were owned by Navy and anyone else with a pulse for decades

As for the Navy game, that was a hard-fought game that could've gone either way despite Navy having a bad year last season.

Exactly... And even if we had won that game it wouldn't of been anything much to brag about... My unkind respect towards them is due to their poor past conference experince results.

If they join this league it would be deja-vu all over again... Why some here want that for this league is beyond me. SMH

Wouldn't mind having them, but I'm sure they will be a disaster in the AMERICAN as well.

Army’s recent success has resulted in the Black Knights speculated among possible candidates upon reports that UConn is exploring leave the AAC for the Big East.

“Not interested, if you ask me,” Monken told me. “We’re a national team. We need to play a national schedule. That’s one of the great things about our program that separates us from so many others. We recruit nationally so we should play nationally. We’re not a regional university. This is America’s University.”

They wouldn't share revenue from Navy Army game plus they could go back to complete suckness. Another triple option team to get injuries.

Within 3 years in this league everyone knows how to roll them.

If we assume that Army and BYU are a no go—-then Air Force or a MW front range school like CSU would probably be the best institutional match. I’d personally prefer we avoid any UAB, Marshall, S Miss type add simply on the basis that it reinforces the often cited criticism that the AAC is just CUSA 2.0. Such an add would mean 10 of the 12 schools were CUSA schools—-we don’t need that. The AAC must maintain a composition that is unique enough that it can be perceived as being something entirely different than CUSA ever was.

Their success is based on a weak schedule (https://fbschedules.com/ncaa/army/), that won't be the case in the AMERICAN.

Agree. I doubt Aresco wants them either.

AAC will be fine with 11. Go to no divisions and 9 conference games, top 2 meet in CCG. UConn leaving actually improves your football. Hopefully San Jose leaves MWC.

BYU is the only school that adds financial value to the AAC & potential value on the field. If BYU is interested, great, invite them for FB & bring in the best available BB program in the current conference footprint too, otherwise stay at 11.

Please go read the rules for a championship game, or select any thread on here discussing it and read the cut and pasted rules that have to keep being posted.

Navy is not agreeing and truthfully can't (cbssports requires a certian number of games) to 9 games. They will play AFA, Army, ND every year and need 5 home games, which they like to be a Patriot conference FCS

Pretty ironic that the more success we have in FB... the less likely Army will ever join. Too dang bad...

NO to any California teams, those crazy politicians will pass a sort of crazy laws preventing teams from traveling to certain states:, (Didn't like the outcome of an election somewhere (GA,FL), don't like local laws in certain states (GA, AL, LA, NC))...

I can actually keep going, but I think most people get what I'm getting at.

As GoOwls said, Army West Point would rather play two FCS a year. I could break down Monken's schtick point by point but it seems y'all saw through it.

The AD and 3-star Superintendent could feel differently from Monken, but I dont think he's too far off the reservation here.

They don't want it. There are some valid reasons for AAC to want them, as well as arguments against. Since its debatable if they add enough value, and we can stand pat at 11 - as opposed to if we had been poached a couple years ago - bye, Felicia. Enjoy two FCS in November.

I think Army would be a horrid add. They will be back to 2 or 3 wins a season in no time and the AAC is back to UConn type fb program again. Byu works, AF is ok, Col state isn't bad, If you had to go east I would look at ODU.
