Matter of fact I think that Steve Logan outscored Southern Miss in a game against Cincinnati. Correct me iff I am wrong. On the football side, there was a giant slide. I concur with all the other posters, I would not want to make trips to one third filled gyms to see hoops. Southern Miss does not add anything except nostalgia.
Well, you can already go to maybe half the AAC basketball arenas and see the same thing, lol.
That's the problem. Add a football school that can add value especially with us each gaining an extra $700k not expanding.
The homerun would be BYU fb only with VCU other sports. Add a little more to both sides.
If we are standing pat at 11---I really like the idea of just adding VCU. It costs little---replaces the quality basketball depth in the league, while preserving our ability to add a full member later if we a clear and obvious option for #12 emerges from the pack. The problem with doing nothing in the current NET driven system and staying with the same number of conference games---is not replacing UConn means those UConn games will be replaced with more games against the bottom teams of the conference.

On the topic of financial value / TV contract / Markets;
Just bc you dont have a large population in your University's city, doesn't mean there is not financial value. And just bc you DO have a large population, doesn't mean you will have lots of eyes on TV screen when you play.
Heck, when Alabama plays Auburn, LSU, Florida, etc., Im pretty sure people in Texas and other places outside the south and certainly people outside of Tuscaloosa, Gainesville, Baton Rouge, etc., watch the game. Oxford and Starkville are pretty darn small towns with no "market".
At the same time, San Antonio, Miami and Dallas are VERY large "markets", but no one cares about UTSA, FIU, North Tx, etc. It is more about brand than population. Not saying USM is comparable to those SEC schools for obvious reasons. Just pointing out that financial value comes from more than population of the town the school resides in / near.
Tell me, what opponent would draw the most attendance at a Memphis football game; USM, Temple, Tulsa, Tulane, FIU, UTSA, North Texas, or Cincy? The answer is USM. That is added financial value for Memphis.
I said as much, related to Memphis in isolation. But USM doesn't add financial value for the conference, especially the value of the TV contract - and that is likely the measuring that will count for votes.
I think its cute how these USM fans really do think this highly of themselves. lol
Look guys, if USM moved any needles, they would be in the AAC already. You just don't, sorry.
Crap market...check
Crap hoops...check
Football...sure, its probably an upgrade from UCONN but so what. You just don't bring enough to the table all in all. Sorry.
And as far as brand, if you were in the AAC today, right now, you would be dead last in brand. Last. By a long shot.
Same song and dance. I love USM, and both of us would be good for history. Marshall i dare say, has probably one of the best, if not the best brand among CUSA, MAC, and Belt. We are pumping tons of money into facilities and improving academics. BUT...
it just isn't enough. We cant help that our DMA went from 54 to74...
or that WV is hemorrhaging population.
Our enrollment is decreasing. I am fortunate enough to have a wonderful career that i can stay here.... i like it here.
Budget is at $32MM...
I know enough to know that you don't say.... if we have money, we can perform... well no shite. You have to perform and be successful and then say, “Hey, we’ve peaked here. We are as successful as we can be, but imagine what we can offer to help boost the conference.”
I hope we can get there, but we will continue fighting and playing on, supporting the Herd attending games every weekend. Good luck AAC. Really. You need not do anything imho.

Now I know you're trolling...
Look, I'm under no delusions that USF is some big name program. But can you remind me of how many of the NY6 bowls Southern Miss has played in? How many Heisman Trophy's they've had? How many Final Fours they've appeared in? You're going to have a helluva time convincing anybody that "USM is as big, if not bigger, of a name than" at a minimum, Cincinnati, Memphis or Houston.

Hi.
Ouch. Can I at least point out that I said "at a minimum?" Here, this will let you know I'm not completely clueless...

1. Awesome pic. Army Navy Gala?
2. I was all "#24 in all time wins Navy says hi" to the delusional USM poster. I didnt want to skip your good post, so sorry for not being more clear.
No worries - I always default to "what did I do now?" in situations like this.
Picture was from David Robinson's twitter (found by searching "Roger Staubach David Robinson" on Google and looking at the first image. It was posted in December of 2015.
Yeah, I remember that "interception", though id rather not.
Just saw an old highlight of one of your fans decking a ref after the game after USM won at the end. Ill refrain from posting so this doesn't get moved. I did like that whole highlight better.
The path to getting "Aye" votes from the 11 AAC Presidents?
Sorry, its not about history, shared or otherwise, it's about the future. If all people want to talk about BSU is BCS-busting over a decade ago, I'm done listening. BYU's value isn't a 1984 Holiday Bowl natty, it's a growing built in fanbase (LDS) and positive trends for future budgets.
We talk about value, and it's not just dollars and cents. Does a candidate add value for the AAC's strategic future? Does a candidate add value for the year 2025? We have a stratrgic plan to (hopefully) be on the right side of the next restructure of CFP and possibly DI football. G4s may not like the sound of P6, but we've drawn it out clearly. Close gap with "P5" (new media deal) or at the very least dont give up ground (we'll continue to do every autonomy thing the "P5" do such as full cost of attendance). At the same time, separate from the G4 in budgets and on field.
If you don't add value to the P6 campaign, you're a "Nay"

That was total BS! I'm too young to remember it but I've seen that video. The USM player caught a hail mary but was still about 25 yards from the end zone so with a Pirate defender pulling he drug about 10-15 more yards before going down (his knee was actually down) but he then illegally pitched the ball forward with no time remaining. The rules at the time allowed an untimed down even though it was a five-yard penalty against the offense & USM was permitted to kick a FG. Unbelievable. Skip to 1:18 in video below.

In scene below, ECU is Gordon Geckko, USM is Bud, and the AAC is Darien.

Is UCONN the Euro flash GQ type that although has big bucks was putting the AAC's feet to sleep? Exit visas are imminent.
